One day got caught out and nearly ran out of fuel when I was waiting for my fuel light to come on and it didnt!

So filled up - and when I checked the reds (ignition position 2) the fuel light doesnt come up!

So I went to Repco and replaced the bulb (after removing the dash)

... guess what - It still doest come on when I turn on the car!

Any idea? Anyone?

im not sure about your car,but my mazda had a similar problem and it was the sensor in the tank.
are you sure the light is surposed to come on,i thought that the light only came on when fuel was low.ill check it on my mates teg and let you know.

Yeah cheers - I thought so too.

The fuel guage works fine. Just got caught out when the car started stuttering going up a hill. lol

If anyone can clarify if the fuel light comes on with the reds that would be great.

If the fuel gauge works fine, then shouldn't you have known you were getting low on fuel!

You have a sensor on the Sender unit in your tank, that's the problem. Unfortuately you cant just change this sensor you need to buy the whole Sender unit and there pretty expensive.

Right and this sensor is independent of the gauge?

Because the gauge seems to work fine...

That's correct it is Independent of the guage, the sensor sensors when the floater gets in it's way (meaning you are low on fuel) and "BANG" the fuel light goes on.
