Heya ppls ... im in a pickle...

I wanna get my car lowered but i dunno to either use shocks or Bag it...

i was thinking Airrunners... but then i was also thinking some nice shocks and springs...

prolly talked about before but i wanna know again lol

anyone had experience with both...

i like airbags cause then im able to jack it up over the dreaded speedhump =P hehe

But then i like shock n springs because they make handling betterererer... lol

Anyone able to assist with my decision here =D

Looks OR performance .simple as that....airbags and you got no performance...but can go much lower... shocks+springs = much much better handling..height is only slightly adjustable or not at all

shocks and spring = 1 height set, if require lower or higher setting then you'll be paying extra cash out of pocket.

coilovers (combined shock + spring) = adjustable to height required, dampening force adjustable too more flexible and costs a fair bit.

air runners = height adjustable, tank required in boot, not as intense compared to coilovers.

Depends on the type of feel you are looking for, if you want a show car then go for air runners, if you want racey feel and intense handling coilovers otherwise just for a slight drop and good look go for spring+shock combo.
Take into consideration if you want comfort or spine killing ride.

Just some insight, please guys correct me if i am wrong.
My 2c.

Can't have both for sure. You have to choose one, unfortunately. If you are going super low, airrunners is the way to go, because you don't want to be scraping your car everywhere you go.

As you may be aware i've got Bilstein/Eibach and i reckon it's the best setup for the Euro but knowing you and your car i suggest you go for Tein SS.

Tein flex doesn't have front camber adjustment as well.

i know the flex also go lower than the ss
i could be wrong :)
anyway i would go the flex just because they go lower

Sure. I have Flex on my car. There is no front camber adjustability.

That's strange, i'm lookiing to buying a set of tein flex coilovers and i've read they have front camber adjust?

see the tein website below for the Tein Type Flex:

http://www.tein.com/products/flex.html

It sais the front struts do have camber adjust in the pillowball mounts?

Cheers.

It depends on model, The Tein Flex for CL7/9 have the pillowball mounts but not camber adjustable ones.

Well that sucks.

Lol, thanks heaps for clearing that up!

Sorry for hi-jacking the thread, but i'm looking at the Tein Flex coilover's soley for it's height adjustement, I'd love to buy the Tein Mono Flex but i'm worried they won't drop low enough.

How does everybody find the Flex's?

Flex is HARD. If you want a comfortable ride, forget it. LOL

I found 16/16 too bumpy. 11/10 is much more suitable for the spring rate I reckon. It is firmer than 16/16, but at the same time more comfortable. I'm around the olympic park area.

lucky camper, i drive on princes highway alot to go to work and stupid canal rd is under repair bloody bumpy.
Yeh will need to find the best setting for comfort for my gf. Last i recall was maybe a 12/11 was sufficient.
Canterybury rd/Parramatta Rd killer, you find it very noisy while driving on dodgy roads?

Parramatta rd, Auburn side. haehaheha hate that road.
On dodgy roads, the pillowball mounts make a thudding/knocking noise, especially if you have high tyre pressure.

i know how you feel, im on stocks and i go down that road basically everyday and i always feel like i have a flat tire or something...is the stock suspension that bad? or could it jsut be my car? because ive been in my mates mazda 6 and also toyota camrys and they are all pretty smooth...my car driving down that rd sort of hurts my bum :thumbdwn:

You must have a rockhard ass.
Flat tyre - noise? might be the tyre your running, tyre pressure
Hmm... sounds like a weird case, Does anyone know if the stock suspension settings manufactured differently to 03/04 models?

when i was on my stock susp, parra rd wasnt too bad, and not much noise from it either. But now with monoflex i can feel almost everything even slight waveyness in the road. Depending on how much damper stiffness i put.

03/04 suspension is a little firmer than 06/07 I think.

Both are not comfortable. But monoflex is supposed to have better low speed damping and the front spring rate is 9kg/mm compared to Flex's 10kg/mm.

I believe the monoflex is a more comfortable than flex..
Flex is relatively stiff for road use and find the monoflex is firm, but not as bumpy as the flex.
I think better damping..

But if you want both ride comfort and handling and have the $$$ go spoon coilovers..
On the softest setting it isn't all that bad.. much softer than flex/mono, but also good on the track as well

Crapdaz

only other difference is flex has a larger adjustment range compared to monoflex.

what about the tein CST
heres a review from tsx forums

"the handling is superb.it sits much better than stock and around corners it grips better.

being as low as I am, I can't lie, I feel the bumps more than stock, but it's
not very noticable at all.

most say the SS isn't very noticable at all, and to me it wasn't.
but my wife didn't like the SS as much, a bit too harsh/rough for her.

The CST is very soft, and she proclaims it's as nice of a ride as stock...
until we hit a bump or a speedbump or something.

for daily street driving they're great.

for coilovers, in my opinion they're the best out there for ride comfort.

and they perform great too.
I thought that I'd lose some handling over the SS, but no, none at all.
they handle as well as the SS, to me anyway.

not one complaint."

How much do the Tien SS's go for now?

I think $1300-1500 locally from Fulcrum.
Otherwise, there is one going for $1000 2nd hand. Claims to be 6 months old. http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=90640
