hey guys,

recently had an s2000 button kit put in my car. (uses a relay..)

Basically it works on and off. the first start in the mornings it never starts. I'll push the button and hold it but all i hear is the fuel pump and a click from the engine bay. i'll start with key - no problems.

if i go to say..pump petrol...then come back and start it - the button will work.

after i park it and go to work, come back (8 hours later), the button will not work.

so it would seem as tho its during cold starts the button will not work?

i've changed the relay but still the same problem.

key start works fine...

i've checked the wiring and on the parts where its tapped to ignition, it looks fine and wrapped up in electrical tape.

Any ideas?

hey man i installed mine, took ages but works fine, not sure what it would be, unless its a dodgy button? it does take alot of power to start it with the button

yeh as in it drans the battery i flatened mine when i pressed it too many times, tho my car was immobile during that week, pressing it a million times n not driving was bound to have that effect

sounds like you have miswired the relay or used a weak relay

would starting using the key and the button would require the same amount of power to start the engine? *shrug*

just buy the plug and play one.. :) JDM engine start button.. that is what i have for my car :)

the button ( or any other button ) would melt if your trying to make it power the solenoid of the starter motor.

you must make the button power a 30A relay to power the solenoid. search the DIY section

Ah ok thanks ECU-Man.
the relay that came with the button kit is the same as the 2nd relay I bought from DSE:

It is 20Amps and I'm pretty sure the other one is too.

I think i'm going to get new wiring and see how i go. I think the problem is to do with not sending enough voltage to the starter motor or cleanly enough. I think it only works occasionally because it has residual charge/volts.

Will post when i find out..
