I have an '07 Jazz VTi and love it. Still surprises me just how quick it can be when pushed. Bang for your buck in the small hatch market, theres not much better in my opinion. Build quality is usual Honda standard, makes cars like a (more expensive) VW Polo blush. Servicings pretty cheap too, even from a dealer.

great little car, u wouldn't believe the amount of crap i've managed to fit into it. only problem is that it bottoms out with heavy loaded on small road humps cause of the soft suspension, sure u might say that's the case cause it's loaded, but i had 2 75kg dudes in the back seat with a passenger seat person and myself, the rear was also bottoming out occasionally, not as often when loaded with equipment to the craphouse though. fun car to drive, fun to fang around, but again, it's a 1.5 so if ur looking for speed with crazy vtec pull, ur looking for the wrong thing. only got a pod filter in mine, makes a nice sound, feels like ur driving something with some amount of balls lol.

cool little car. Get a vti. Looks plain and simple and is nippy around town.
Decent on fuel too - fill up with cheap E10 and feels the same as 98 lol.

they're good cars, just dont get a current model with cvt as it's guaranteed to fault at some stage. manuals are fine, there are no major issues with those.
otherwise if you are after an auto hold out until the new model comes out which has gone back to a standard auto

Besides Honda Jazz, Toyota Yaris RS version is aner choice for you. Honestly, the performance of Yaris RS is much better than the New Honda Fit. However, the interior space of Yaris is not as big as Jazz.
Stick Shift and Automatic are available for both of the cars.
So maybe you can go and test drive.
In HK, Yaris and Jazz are the 2 hottest compact car and in terms of performance, Yaris RS can beat all Honda 1.5 vtec Fit.
I am driving a Honda Jazz myself but if I will choose between the New Yaris RS and the New 1.5 Fit. I will definitely choose the Yaris RS

vy - they are good cars with enough performance you will need in day to day driving. they have plenty of space (you can fit almost anything in them if you put the back seats down).
they are very EASY to drive, with light steering and good visability.
they have a comfortable seating position and on top of that they're very good on fuel
they are answers to 'real world' questions you may have, if you have any more just shoot

Great cars, especially with the 7 speed cvt. Don't be put off by the same people who warn people off getting the cvt transmission, they say this in nearly every thread that pops up. If you use the correct cvt oil and change it regularly, you wont have a problem.

Dont worry. The new model which is 2006-07 thailand made one uses new CVT oil. I am on my 20k and no shutter at all. If you are afraid you can do a CVT flush every 20k at around $250.

if intend to drive it hard, you'll be surprised what it can do handling wise... but the jazz is much more spacious than the yaris- theres heaps more head room for taller people front and back if thats ever a problem.
was in a similar position tossing and turning between yaris and jazz. the extra flexible bootspace, headroom and the cvt 7 speed made my mind set.

Agree...Jazz is the best hatchback in current market. Definitely better than Yaris.
Huge potential to modify! As long as got $$.

This is a great thread as I'm also looking as a small economical daily driver. Due to budget though I was looking at the GLi also in auto. Since the new model comes out soon and we're looking at buying in July/August then I might pick up a real good deal by then on a VTi. On the other hand I would love a conventional auto as I'm not a fan of CVT. Isn't CVT technology better on fuel though?

Yes. Plus they dont absorb as much engine power as a regular auto, meaning more power to the wheels. This is why they are used on small engined scooters as well.
