if only the tank was the same.

Did you change the cluster at all?
happened to my mate after he put on a aftermarket one.
you simply just got to make sure its connected on properly

3 things,

-Your fuel gauge is simply stuffed.

-U have a short to ground on the wire going between the fuel gauge & the sender unit in the tank. This will stuff the fuel gauge as well if left for an excessive time.

-The sender unit in the tank is just jammed in the up position.

U can get at the sender unit in the tank by looking under your rear seat.

1. your car might be special and its always on full!
hahah we wish aye.

ok take out your cluster, and check that all the wiring is connected.
might be a lose connection.

If it was a loose connection the fuel gauge would see high ohms & would go too Empty.
The fuel gauge is seeing low ohms to be stuck on Full,ie short to ground on wiring, internal gauge short or sender stuck in up position.
