Hi guys,

Just wanted opinions on the 98 facelifted teg vti-r..

pros & cons.

I'm researching the dc2 against EK, EM1

comparing all three which would be best?

going for DOHC VTEC no matter what!

I know the teg is a 1.8l..

Just wanted opinions on the three..

There's many differences to compare. The extra capacity of the DC2 is very welcome in torque down low. A major factor for me is build quality as DC2 & EK4 (& all EK's) are Japan build, whereas EM1 is US built and the interior quality has been criticised for this.

Not much feedback from the ozhonda community yet..
Is there any cons on the engines or gearboxes that you know of?

I assume you have a DC2? What are the good and bad you feel for your ride?
Major problems?

Heres a thread on things we don't like about the Integra:

Take note though, these problems are most likely widespread among other Honda's as well.

Yes i have a DC2. Any car which has been well maintained from new is a massive head start as well as minimal k's. I bought mine with 74k on the clock and now at 111k, my brother and a friend also have 96 & 97 DC2's up around 150k-160k and apart from usual wear and tear the repairs have been minimal and servicing as per the schedule.
Like every car there are a few unique traits, one that comes to mind is the plastic radiator top tank will split and require replacement but is nothing major. My friends 150k DC2 still hasn't split tho mine did at about 98k.
We have all replaced clutches as they do wear, but Honda gearboxes are known to be strong, hence no issues.
Honestly i was a little worried buying a Honda regarding cost of parts, but I've found nothing really breaks anyway and they haven't missed a beat.

hmmm..

im looking into the normal unfacelifted and the facelifted..

I could do a facelifted 98 conversion, but cost wise im not sure how much im looking at?

Between the two they are both similar? except for the headlights, front bar and rear tails am i correct?

engine is still b18c?
how bout the interior?

anyone know?

to be honest nothing over 13k.

youll find one very easy, just take a good look at the car and check everything normal and you'll be fine

the only problem i have had so far is the back window reversing~ but yer thats about it, and the only serious mechanical problem is the car does not shift into reverse but this was caused from a reason

i thought you want EG mate~

HAHA! yeh I'm doing heaps of research.. most of the boys on oz been telling me that EKs are good and then theres DC's so i gotta know all for myself. Before I settle the score down the the sweet ride. I just want to get something that will last me about 4-5 yrs atleast, something candy and with a hint of power.

Does anyone know the power to weight ratio?

jaydenn to be honest
i was in your spot 3 months ago
my dad knew some people, so i was able to test drive an EG and DC
From my experience the DC felt more fun driving compared to the EG
but the EG however is so much more light weight and has more back seater head room compared to the DC2. With the extra head room however, theres the lack of booot space that comes with it. In the end i chose the DC.
The DC is a good starter car.
Just my 1 Cent

I'm planing to upgrade to a Type R some time in the future
Still very satisfied with the purchase a few months ago

Did you make it a JDM spec? Can you PM me the parts needed..

So your engine is a b18c?

Let me know, I might hit a 93' then theres a few under 10 on CS

I've driven a JDM DC2R thats about it for the tegs, but i cant really match it up with a DC2 vti-r can I?

I've drive EK with a D16 sohc vtec, EG with a sohc vtec.

the EK felt nicer, the EG wasn't too bad but i love the JDM look for the EG its bloody delicious (Duy's x EG clear example) can't get over it!

there's no replacement for displacement

1.8>1.6

the VTiR stock is pretty sluggish but it's got potential (well mine was when i first bought it cuz it had plenty of stuff working against me haha). Throw a few mods on it and it'll make u contempt at least.

as for head room Haiison is probably right (never been in one so i can't confirm) but i've maybe sat in my back seat twice in my life (cuz i was cleaning) and boy did i feel sorry for my passengers haha.

but it's ur choice if u wanna b a taxi then yeah sure! haha

good luck with ur choice man =)

it all comes down to preference and how much you got to how deep is your pocket.
