Hi there all I was just wondering if a ITR/CTR LSD Diff centre can be fittrd to Non LSD B16A gearbox. If so how hard is it and what mods have to be done to make this conversion.

Search is your friend!
The concensus is NO it will not fit. Driveshafts and a few other pieces need to be swapped over in order to run them..... and by the time you screw around doing all this you where better off getting an aftermarket item like a quafie or cusco.

also, type of B16A tranny....there are a few. if i remember, cable tranny not quite as easy to get an LSD for it, compared to hydraulic tranny.

ummm...LSD was optional (Quaife/Honda OEM) on the Y1 and S1 cable tranny - so yes, they can be had
were lsd's standard on the ef9?

would it be easier to get an aftermarket LSD?
and by easier i mean cheaper of course :)

Seeing as the EF9 Civic (and EF8 CRX) only ever had the Y1 tranny, refer to my other post and work it out... hint: the key word is optional. Likewise the DA6 'teg XSi which ran the S1 tranny.

Hmm....i don't think cheap comes into the equation when adding an LSD.
Aftermarket brands that come into mind are : Spoon, Quaife, Cusco, KAAZ....
Setanta: what about the YS1 ? from which did it originate ?

How about those Phantom Grip things?

Guy its easy to rattle off brand names but you should also consider if they are clutch or gear type LSDs, are you prepared to be rebuilding the LSD often or are you a slap it in and forget about it type of person.
Also to consider is if they need to work with specific fluids (usually also marketed by the same company.... KaZZ diffs are like this) or ok with your regular MTF.
This helps narrow down options further after you have decided on the 1, 1.5 or 2 way diff you want.
has anyone here actually installed an lsd to a civic?

I also think EKSLUT had a lsd for a hydro box for sale....i'd do it, gimme a few grand ! :(

ctr's box is a ITR box, not a b16 box

Keeping my KAAZ LSD now :D But I bought myself a ITR gearbox to fit it on.
People have fitted aftermarket ITR/CTR LSD's to B16 gearbox's before, but only on hydro box's. You need the ITR/CTR final drive to make the LSD fit. Couldn't fit it onto my cable gearbox coz internals all different and final drive wouldn't of fit on.
I would think that a stock ITR/CTR LSD should fit on like a aftermarket one, but im not too sure.

ctr's box is a ITR box, not a b16 box
so has anyone else put a LSD into their non-lsd b16a box ?
or even into a cable b series box ?

u can.. only if u buy a clutch pack lsd, but the thougth of running a clutch pack puts most ppl off

Which ones (brands) are the clutch pack type LSD? So the other LSD's fit if you put in the ITR final drive?

yeah, I went to fit a KAAZ ITR LSD onto my EK4 and the only reason it did not fit is because the bolts on the LSD did not line up with the holes on the stock final drive. Get a ITR final drive and it should all bolt up fine.

Well that's the one I've been planning to go with for a while now, more so because of the advantages of durability and no special/specific MTF required.
Though not sure if you can source them here in Australia or have to get it sent over from Quaife USA.
*sniff sniff* I smell a group buy comming along! :!:

A Group buy won't change the price much... they sell for around 900$US.... plus around 200$ US for shipping... $1100US... = $1620 Aust
Plus custom clearance fee = $100
plus import tax and gst... 25%
= $2150
Then you will need new bearings for it.. there around 90$ each (x2) and also new left hand thred bolds... there arounds 15$ each from honda (10x)
plus some new tranny oil $50.. (sub total $380) hmm $2530.00
Plus labour to fit, which involves totaly stripping the gear box, a good 10 hours labour min ! i recon it will be hard to get change out of 3000$ to buy / fit it... expensive mod which is why maybe ppl just buy a ITR gear box for 1000$ or so....

Gotta be done at one point or another :) ...... that's why I'm waiting for the clutch to wear down a bit further get all the transmission side of things done all at once, l/w fly and clutch etc.
does anyone know which lsd honda uses for their jdm ek4's?
as in when you choose to have lsd as a option when you buy a brand new ek4
do they outsource it or use their own?
can i know the brand name and type pls
thanx

here gelo :
http://www.quaifeamerica.com
http://www.quaife.co.uk
Other types of LSD's:
http://www.cusco.co.jp/english/e_cont.html
http://www.a-t-s.co.jp/
http://www.kaazusa.com
Each site, has a small explanation of their LSD, and they also have their application list aswell. I wouldn't take the prices 'as is' though.
i think somewhere they explain 1-way, 1.5 & 2-way lsd's....actually i might gather some info & do a write-up....if it hasn't been done. [don't hold your breath though...]
