I think the strip pushes toward the front of the car before it unclips on dc2/4, you will be left with holes.

I'm my opinion, after you take them off, don't paint them and put them back on because when you go to do it, you'll find that the strips might not line up straight anymore depending on how you took them off.
Better off buying colour coded strips, or new ones them painting it.

i did mine a work.
on a dc4 for the doors:
the last clip furtheest from the front is a black screw.
then to undo the strips, u HAVE to take off the door trim and use a flat head screw driver to unclip each clip.
the strips arent hard to take off. but be delicate with it. because its a rubber strip with weak metal inside, it will bend easily and stay in that shape. (i know cos i fcked up on one side)
the short strip on the quarter panel, u can use something like a credit card and slip it in till u find the clip and poke around till u losen it.,
If u are unsure wat ur doing, then u should probaly try and remove the interior trim and do the same as above,, the rear ones dont have any screw holding it in. and these arent as delicate. these are just hard rubber. so u can throw it around and it wont change shape.
another thing u could do instead of taking them off, is to use some 5mm tape, its very flexible and as long as u stick it exactly on the line, u wont have any problems. u just have to mask off everything else.(that u can use newpaper) and then remove the tape as soon as ur done to prevent the paint drying on as one piece.
err hope that helps?
