Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and I was seeking people's experience and expertise in this issue.

I currently own a '00 model Honda Civic 4 door sedan. It is still running the stock D series non-VTEC engine and stock gearbox with only additions being a full custom Lukey performance exhaust, CRX extractors and 75 shots of Nitrous.

Here's the issue I have. I have recently purchased a B18C engine out of a DC2 Integra. We have bored and stroked it out to 2.2, changed the cams to TODA products, sleeved, balanced and blueprinted it and also replaced the internals with forged items. Plans are to run 100 shots of Nitrous on it for track use, and later on in the year after Final Battle, also boost it with a T28/03 kit on between 18 and 20psi of boost.

My questions are:

1. I am yet to source a gearbox for it. Would the DC2 box be strong enough to handle that sort of horsepower with nitrous before and after the turbo conversion? If not, what do people suggest?

2. Where would I find a DC2 box around Brisbane preferably and roughly how much are they to purchase from experience?

3. Would I need custom engine mounts and if so where could I get them?

4. Would I need a custom drive shaft and again if so where would I get it?

5. Is the T28/03 the best turbo setup or what else would others suggest to get minimum lag and maximum benefits?

6. The engine is being supplied with the stock Type R computer. Will this be sufficient or should I go with an aftermarket product like Motec or Power FC? What else do people suggest.

Ideally I have been told that with that sort of engine work, there'd be a problem if I wasn't running 12s without the turbo or nitrous but that's something I wanna wait and see about. Please help me guys. I wanna get this engine in before final battle so I can run it on the dyno down there. I'd love to meet all you Honda owners from Sydney too and show you what I've done with it at Final Battle also.

Cheers guys and look forward to your responses.

As for the tubo. if u wanna run big boost at low intake temps, i might look a something a bit bigger. guys int he US love the SC60 from precision (76trim) ++. It all depends on how much u have to spend. If u want quickest spool, get something ball bearing (or dual) but it will cost.

No as I mentioned, the new B18C is the one that is due to run the stock Type R computer. I'm still driving on a stock non VTEC D series engine. They're a good engine nonetheless but without a screaming VTEC what's the point? That's why I'd go none other than a Integra Type R engine

Oh and thank you for the information fellas. I'll give those guys in Sydney a call tomorrow morning.

Um probably....maybe...not sure :P

With the stock engine without Nitrous I ran 96HP. With 1/4 bottles of Nitrous I ran 139hp. With full bottles I have run 156hp.

Luke's getting some pics up for me...stay tuned :)

Dude, some may be full of shit....others are dead set legit  One thing I have always learned is you never underestimate people you don't know. Having said that, it's all good.

I bought the engine stock off a mate who had did a spoon transplant in his DC2 Integra. Together we built up the old engine and we're just finding out places to go thru to sort shit out such as mounts and such. When I find out more information, I'll let you know.

As for the Zex.....haven't had a problem but I will say that if you are running nitrous and you don't want anything to go wrong, it pays to have your vehicle tuned at least once a month or once in two months. My engine doesn't have a problem with the Nos contrary to what others believe but that's coz I make sure it's looked after tuning wise.

If u need it tuned every month or 2, then u need new management.

hey ash, going for an aftermarket ecu would give you the most benefits, tuning options, power etc. if you are looking at spending the $$$ in buying an aftermarket ecu then the haltech is a good option, as is the motec..... otherwise, you could always go for a piggy-back such as the greddy emanage + gadgets such as ebc's, and what have you. turbo wise, a t25 should be fine, bigger may take a lil longer to spool up ;)

T25's run out of puff on a D, let abone a B. they cant handle the high rpm's, and espically cant handle the 2.2L bore (quite wierd i might add, most hi-po b's max out at just under 2000cc..)

Something bigger then a T28!

tinkerbell
15-09-2004, 02:07 PM
the only way to get 2.2l B-series Type R is to bore out to 90mm (impossible)

or use a B20A crank and a 86mm bore...

this was a common thing to try in JDM land, but the piston speeds are so high that a high RPM limit is engine self-destruct time...

but still, these combos served their purpose in constantly being rebuilt drag engines...

tinkerbell

oh - and at LEAST a hi-flowed t28...

Umm a little off topic but what is that muppet doing with a helmet on in the orange car??

Forget it I thought it was BWCP and it is at Willowbank! :o

um - both drivers have helmets on dude,

they might be at an event about to race...?

ludester
15-09-2004, 06:31 PM
that is at willowbank, if i remember at test n tune last month...

from experiance ash's civic goes damn good, only when nos is on :D but yeah, it goes good for a 1.6L SOHC.

remember ash...me and you, no nos, you can take your stereo out and ill leave mine in...see who wins :D ill have the sunroof open so i can  bye bye to you when i leave you behind :D

Thanks a great ddeal for the information boyz.....much appreciated. If you have anything more to add that would be great.

As for Luke....least I won't need to record my driving hours in a heavy vehicle drivers logbook on the way to Sydney this year like you will :P Whilst everyone else looks at reducing their times on the strip and at the raceways, you go the opposite direction and try and break records for having the worlds worst power to weight ratio in a 4 cylinder vehicle :D just kidding mate :P Looking forward to racing you ;)
