Hey guys
I just sold my 180sx to downgrade to a EG Civic, had a pretty good deal so yeah. The guy claims its a Breeze 1.3L carby, the rego papers also say its a 1300cc engine, but my car has a rev tacho, power windows, power mirrors, a/c, power steering???

It seems to be blowing quite alotta smoke in the mornings at startup and it seems to be shooting something out from the exhaust, theres wet patches from this morning. Any ideas?

Lovin' the shape of these EGs.

I cant tell you about the options etc, but it should be obvious whether it is a carby or injected! Check the VIN number and post the 3 digit code that starts with EGx, and i'm sure the others can tell you what you have...

It's not exactly wet patches on the ground but like black dust or something?

180 to eg is not a downgrade

lol okay,
so can you guys help my carby out...
its like a lawn mower in the morning and it blows some serious smoke...
later on the day you can see black dust below where the exhaust was...

sounds like carbon build up in the exhaust is blowing out when you start it. the motor sounds a bit tired.

Same thing was happening to my old engine. Was just an old tired engine that either needed a recondition or a replacement. Take it to a workshop if you want direct answers, seeing as you cant tell us if its EFI or Carby.

It's an EG3
So its a Carby

Blue
Doesn't really concern me though.
I'm just worried about the smokey mornings and the dust residue...

sounds like its running rich. no need to worry.. get a barby tuneup if u wish. i wouldnt waste the money though, wait till it dies and spend the cash on a b16/d16 conversion :)

I agree with weq ... it does sound like your running rich..
Try resetting your ecu (take out the power, leave for about 10 seconds) .. Hondas are self learning so reset and give it a week or so and see if things return to normal, if not..
Try
- Giving your throttle a good clean out with some petrol + degreasor... could very well have a large carbon build up ..
- Checking your o2 sensor (should be screwed into your 2-1 piping on original manifold) make sure its screwed in tight and the wires are still intact.. if thats not functioning your air/fuel ratio will b way off and running very rich..

If that still doesn't fix things, take to a mechanic and see what they think... or if youd rather save your money, let the carbi die and do a full EFI b16a conversion like me :D

mmmm just sounds like carbon build up in the exhaust and when you start it in the morning the condesation build up from the heat causes it to run out...my car will do the exact same thing if you rev it in the morning or when you first start it and my engine is a long way of tired with 130000ks....

i doubt it is anything major to worry about dude...

but seriously dude why a 180 to a breeze??? fair enough to a import SIR eg...but man you could push the 180 quicker than a breeze....

My breeze is quicker than most 180s? Well, i can truely say that ive beaten a stock 180
SR20 on a 1/4 mile ... =]

Go the breeze !! repin the 1.3 ! :p

Cheaper insurance, less maintenance, Honda reliability and the looks of the EG hatches!! I had nothing but trouble with the 180 so yeah!!
I've just bought some carbon cleaner and I'll add it in later with a full tank of petrol.
Brought it to Hanny's Performance and they replaced the choke, rewired the engine, and fill some oils, spark plugs for me aswell.

They go my car shouldn't be running rich now. Just the carbon build up wil be cleaned when I drive it around more often.

You have to let carbies warm up in the mornings before driving them.
You should be able to tell if it's a carby by poppin' the bonnet?

Isn't a breeze an EG4 anyway or is that just the 94 1.5l breeze.

They did it all for $100 bucks. The carbon cleaner bottle I bought for $3.99 from Supercheap. They didn't replace my engine oil + oil filter though.
They added coolant, tranmission fluid, replaced the choke, rewired all these pipes and played with these idling screws oh and also replaced spark plugs.

My whole EG6 hybrid cost me 10k..
Including car, engine, missing parts and a few other goodies i picked up along the way for my own sake..

At the time there was only 1 or 2 real EG6s in melb for sale and they were both slightly modded and were asking figures well over 15

I had 9k to start with n while conversion was gettin done worked for the extra 1k i spent on it...

Im proud of what I acheived and was able to produce with my given income..
I had no help from parents (I am only 18)... so i dont agree it would be expensive... if you do it properly (yes it may be a hassle) but i dont think it will be more expensive than an original EG6...

Although with EG6 u get alot of JDM goodies which i woulda loved but missed out on :(
