whether or not your wheels scrub does not depend on the wheel itself, but depends on the specifications of your wheel. ie: width, offset.

other factors include your suspension characteristics ie: camber and height

so in saying that, any EG/EK/DC2 can run 15x7 40-45 wihtout scrubbing no matter how mcuh you lower it

on a lowered eg, on 15x7 or 16x7 what sort of offset could i run without scrubbage, on stock guards?

Which is the wheel itself ??

Hmmm
Does the list i made not include wheel type, wheel size, width, offset, tyre size, suspension setup??? Lets not argue please.:D

Thread is suppose to be a guide. who ever post up has the wheels on their own car, so it must fit but how well is what im asking. Hopefully will give us all an idea of what works and what dosen't.

so in saying that, any EG/EK/DC2 can run 15x7 40-45 wihtout scrubbing no matter how mcuh you lower it
what zco is trying to say is, wheels come in all different brands, shapes, styles and designs. but what's universal is the measurement of size, width and offset of the rims. so instead of listing hundreds of combinations, it's easier to understand these dimensions to estimate whether rims will scrub or not.

anyone want a quick lesson? ok for eg's (and most small hondas in general like dc's, ek's) a standard fitting wheel would be about 15" x 7" wide, with offset between +45(mm) and +50(mm). this is stock/oem fitment, so if you go superlow front or back, it should not rub.

to understand offset, if you buy the same rim in 15" x 7" but offset is now
+35 (compared to original of +45), this means the wheel will sit 10mm further out from the hub, or from another perspective, 10mm closer to the guards. this increases chances of scrubbing against the guards if the suspension is low. the lower you go, the more likely it'll scrub the guards and stick out. if the offset is higher at +55, vice versa - will sit 10mm deeper within the wheel arch and closer to the the shocks / suspension arms.

so with width... if you get a 15" x 8" wheel with stock offset of +45, it'll sit 1/2" closer to the guards as well as 1/2" closer to suspension. wheel position doesn't move, but rim width is just wider.

with all this, imo the safest size for 15"-17" wheels is somewhere between 6.5"-8" wide with offset between +32 and +50. also, tyre size also comes into play, but that's another story, lol... as long as tyre size is a reasonable width, it'll fit. i wouldn't go fatter then 205 or 215 for smaller Hondas.

i've tried many combinations on my car... craziest i've gone is 16" x 8.5" offset +26 (with 205/45/16 stretched) at the rears. These not only stuck out of my guards, they didn't even tuck under so it was potentially scrubbing even without going over a bump! lol.

anyway, do your research before buying weird sizes/offsets. i love wheels! :p

hahaha trism that eg is super dumped.
looks like its running 205/50/16's

i hope you realise that car will handle like absolute shit, scrub the front on turns and bumps and scrub the rears when if ppl get in the back....and your rear tyres will last about 3 months until the inside edge is completely worn out from that bullshit crazy negative camber.

look at the angle of the rear lca's,its ridiculous, you need to understand that the arms were not designed to be run at that angle, every arm in your car will suffer wear and your car will feel like a boat, that constantly scrubs.

but goodluck lol

yeah thats all true.

wont be that low, and the camber isnt too worrying, as its a track/touge car.

with no backseats, so no need to worry bout that :P

but yes, i understand thats way too low, i just like the wheel fitment. what sort of offset would you think it would be running? +30s?

Track cars and especially touge cars need some suspension travel

trism

no, that was aimed at the camber, not the suspension travel :)

Large amounts of negative camber doesn't necessarily mean the car will handle better...

trism
26-05-2008, 08:41 PM
*sigh*

im not worried about massive amounts of camber chewing daily tyres for the reason i stated above.

i didnt say im gonna run massive neg camber, nor did i say that i was expecting it to handle better

the wheel itself - by that i mean, the brand of wheel. ie: rota slip stream
the difference between which wheel fits and which doesnt all lies in the offset, camber height and tyre size you run

so if you read up on those, then you would know which wheels fit and which dont. you can fit any wheel you want if your car was raised

what size and offset does that look to be running?

hard to tell what size... look like 15s to me...

my guess would be 15x7 +24... cos +32 generally would sit flush with the guards without camber. This guy's camber is nuts, so the offset's gotta be lower imo...

The tyres ain't stretched (can tell as rim dish ain't sticking out past tyre wall) so he's got some stockish width, i reckon 195/50/15 cos it's pretty low profile.

But yeah, have fun driving like that :thumbdwn:

No. That eg is running 15x7 +35 offset with 195/50/15. Should rub over humps even with max rolled guards.

Mine
Wheel: Enkei Racing S
Size: 15 x 6.5
Offset: +32
Color: black w/polished lip
Tire: bridgestone gIII and proxes 4
Size: 205/50R15

If Yes, What Setup?: apexi type v damper
Front Rubbing: Onfull
Rear Rubbing: Yes, because of wide tyres and guard not rolled.
Comments: With a setup like this u must camber or get smaller tyres to cancel the rubbing. otherwise dont bother with passengers and back seats.

Will update again when roll 15X7 +25 offset and 15x7 +45 offset.

thats alright, coz the only thing in the back will be a halfcage.

with a bit of camber, you reckon 15x7 with +25 on front, +30ish on back would be sweet?

with 205/50/15s?

are you sure about this? i highly doubt it... look at the dish and amount of camber he has. with the size/offset u mentioned, you wouldn't even need to camber that much.

i've run at 16x8 +28 on my EK at the rears, and with some camber like him, it would have looked very similar...
