View Full Version : Issues with parkers
Hey, read the other threads about parkers but it doesn't cover my issue.
When I turn on my car at around 6am.. the right parker light doesn't turn on when I turn on the lights.
However, when I get home.. and take a look it's back on. It's always the same time.
FIY, The parker is on loose as it doesn't light up when fully fitted in.
Anyone have the same problem?
Thanks in advance.

have you been playing with the parkers?
thing i noticed when changing my parkers is that sometimes you'd have to turn the parker 180 degrees and slot it in again.
not sure if you've done that already though..

maybe the cables are twisted too much and putting stress to cause the cut in power.
try to not twist them too much, as i havent had any problem with my parkers since i put them in over a month ago.
1. Parker socket wires twisted too much.
2. Parker is on its way out if LED.
Please correct me guys as i am not a professional.

But it's strange how it always works at night. I'll check it when I'm home.
xiang, I'm pretty sure I put it in the right way cos if I put it in the other way, it wouldn't light up anyways.
Thanks guys.

Are you using LEDs or filament bulbs?

I had the same problem. The right parker became loose and only worked 20% of the time.
To fix it, just reseat it and apply some bluetac around the edge so it fits snug

^^ You can also bend out the wires at the base of the bulb so that it becomes tighter

reckon because your seating it loosely the connection touches due to vibration and then comes loose again. so its on and off at times.
cause your parkers are wedges anyhow so you just push them straight in.

Might be dying from the voltage fluctuations like my LEDs were. I had them turn off, then on, then go disco on me.

Forgot to mention that the same LED failed completely after a week, possibly due to the excessive voltage fluctuations caused by the bad connection

It'll happen even with a good connection. If you use a multimeter, you'll see that the voltage to the lights fluctuate quite a bit. :( I have since switched my parkers back to normal bulbs.

going disco is cool. sorry like to spam.
but anyways will go back to normal bulbs once mine die.
Sorry guys, been busy with school.
Yeah I am using LEDs as Tranz said.
What I did was get my lights from the passenger door (not stock ones) and put them in the parker position and they worked fine.
I then got my parkers and moved the silver bit on the base and pushed in the parker straight in and it works.
Now I just got to wait for Monday morning to see if the issue is fixed.
Will get back to you guys.
Thanks.

When my LED's parkers go disco which is like every 6 months I move them to side doors and replace my park lamp LEDs with new ones.
Checked it this morning and everything is all good. I think it was the way the bulb was positioned.
Thanks for the information and stuff guys.

Sorry to bring up such an old thread, but I didn't want to make an old thread for a similar problem.
The issue is the left side led. I had Bellof parkers for three years, and about two months ago the parker would flicker after being on for about 10mins or so and after a few more weeks they died. I replaced them with some elcheapo leds, currently they are doing the same thing, there are a total of 6 leds on the one bulb. Three of them are going off like strobe lights.
Anyone got any idea what could be wrong with it? Thanks in advance.

Voltage fluctuations are killing the LEDs. Go back to normal filament parkers with a blue filter on it so that the light output is white.

i had the same problem. but i had to replace them after a few months due to the voltage hikes with my euro. its common for leds. im guessing you're using T10 LED bulbs? Have you tried using another bulb? Maybe a stock one from the front door light? They're also T10 yellow halogens. I prefer the look for the yellow and 6k white HIDs :D

A good white coloured filament parker is the one that comes with the Philips crystalvisions. I think you can buy them separately. Have a look here: http://www.powerbulbs.com/ (they also give you a set of normal coloured parkers free if you buy a set of headlight bulbs).
OEM spec proper LEDs for car use has a lot more electronics than the cheap ones we are buying now which just use a simple resistor. LED parkers from Philips cost about $60-70, so they are not cheap at all.
