Recaro has some OEM seats with side airbags. But a pair will probably cost 1/2 the price of a new FD2.

FN2 seats would work because they have side airbags and will keep your car street legal. Local price for the seat is AU$4000 each. :(

FD2R seats don't have side airbags, so you're better off getting some other Recaros or whatever brand you like since they are not street legal anyway.

which means they're not the "same" as you claimed.

a bit like the steering wheel, they share the same shape/design but FN has buttons and FD doesn't.

the FD seat also has brighter red inserts.

Dangerous? Up until 2003, most bread and butter cars came with only 2 front airbags. Having 2 airbags doesn't make it a dangerous car. Having a poor driver in a car with 20 airbags is more dangerous.

FD2R doesn't have a seat airbags because it was designed as a street-track car. The seats would most probably be replaced with aftermarket items, so to keep it street legal, they probably decided to use non-airbag seats.
