imho, this should ne in audio section

but mike, man, you are so ****ing wrong

the box is the biggest factor on the sound a sub makes

sealed will be tighter, and more for "sq"(sound quality)

a ported box will go lower, but will have tendencies to be laggy

I just got a 12" 1000w sub, it said it needs a 87L box, i went to every shop in Alice Springs that sells car audio, the biggest box i could find here was a 33L which is usually big enough for a 12" sub. The guy i spoke to said that no 12" sub would need more then a 33L box, so I showed him the sub, and then he said, oooh, maybe that will need more then 33L lol.
If you're making the box yourself, be sure to pick up something like 'dyna-mat' this will improve the quality of your sound, and increase sound pressure levels.
if you're going with a sealed box, then it will be smaller then a ported box, and if you're going for a ported box, then the diameter and length of the port are also going to make a difference on your results.
Sealed = tighter bass note, ported = louder

you want a box made out of solid material. The more solid the box, the clearer the sound coming out of it.

Size of box is dependent on the Sub. Usually your good subs will tell you the min. cubic space they need. Most people use the space that they can spare in the boot, cos its convienent.

Porting also depends on the sub. The specs of the sub should tell you what they need.
