ok guyz...need abit of help
m8 cam over the other night with his DC2R..stock..and i thought..ok..lets have a little fun..
so we had a couple of runs with my EG si..and obviously he beat me..but i wus jus bored..anyway

i gotta short shifter...and so in the second run...i wus flat shiftin....
but from 2nd - 3rd...i missed shift and the danm thing jus crunched like no tomorrow.

now when l'm cruisin and i shift from 2nd to 3rd..it crunches even when i shift slow....only goes smooth if the revs drop very low...
also..if l'm rolling 40km+..and press clutch..put into N...then push into 3rd real slow..u can feel this ginding thingy..l'm assuming the synros are gone..
any help ??...how much to fix?

Yup, sounds alot like ur syncros are gone..
Depending where you get it done... expect about.. 700-900$ for new syncro for 3rd/5th gear and labour.. the whole box has to come out and yea not a cheap job... hondas notorous for this problem

...i wus flat shiftin....
That was your first and final mistake... never do that with hondas... as far as i know, only some cars (i think the Nissan SX series [180,200,300]) can withstand the flatshift, but most other cars cant...

Geoof - do you even know what a flatshift is...let alone how to perform properly ? Leave it for the motorbike riders , and those guys out of fast n furious...

Go to Hannys.

Hand over another $700....

Get gearbox rebuilt (again i believe it is for you)

try to change gearbox oil 1st before u replace ur syncro.
I did alot of flatshifting from 1st till 4th gear on my rebuilt gearbox and untill now its still fine. U've got to know how to do flatshifting properly.otherwise it will ruin your clutch and gearbox etc

flatshifting : changing gears without lifting up the accelerator.

Man there are so many bloody opinions on what flat shifting is its not funny...... somw say not lifting off accel. some say it is clutchless shift.....

This is gonna not go anywhere!

I know for a b series, recoed gboxs range from 600-1500
and even then, you dont know what kind of condition they're in .. the syncro hubs could be burred as well on them things and 6 months of driving you've done ur syncros again...
Because remember on top of the price of the gbox, you've still gotta pay for installation... also,
i was quoted 270$ for a mechanic to check over the gearbox if i decided to buy a new one to make sure its all fine.. 270$ + parts so yea...

Im not sure how much a new gearbox goes for, but i know spoon ones are 2K+ easy.. :D

Im not sure about d-series stuff ill let someone else answer that.. but I think for a b-series, its worth getting the rebuild..

Gearbox's for D's should be a dine a dozen.
Complete engine+gearbox's+looms go for ~600 so u work the rest out.

flatshifting : changing gears without lifting up the accelerator.
That's a full throttle shift. What you do with the clutch pedal determines flat shifting.

No one here is a master race car driver... so no one here exactly knows. So shoosh up and keep to topic !!! *next irrelevant post = deleted*

Geoff , change your transmission fluid + bleed your clutch system , and get back to us to see if it makes a difference ok !
