http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l287/beeza2/DSCF2058.jpg

Yes,I will remove the sound deadening :D

I want to get rid of the sub box but keep the sub...The boot will act as the box.
This is an idea I had, cutting the box where the lines are and the tricky part is mounting it on the back seat:

Or using this area like Iv've seen done before.Enclosing it with wood, but that weight though..:

Need Ideas plz :D

EDIT: Here's a DIY on a sub enclosure http://www.d-series.org/forums/showthread.php?t=61673&highlight=install

why dont you put your spare wheel back in sit the bit of cover and carpet back onto it. and customise somthing that goes into the side of the boot. That way you can access your spare wheel. have plenty of space in your boot.

I want to take the box out....

For 3 years I was thinking to take out the spare and never did it incase I got a flat,I never did.So I decided just to leave it out.I'm local 95% of the time.I'll buy that can of gunk U spray into a flat tyre,it's good for 15-20km's :)
Live on the edge.

dude keep the box, the box is 80% responsible for the volume and quality of the bass from your sub. i would put your tray back in and strap the sub down onto it.

I'm thinking to keep the box, flipping the sub (so it's lower for handling) and putting it in the whole there. It will be good because the weight will be lower down.
how would I secure the box to the metal though? Maybe I can glue some velcro down, that will work with the carpet and make it easy to remove...

hi there mate

you cant do your original plan, and use the boot as the box unless the sub is designed for it. its called infinte baffle, or free air. your sub isnt.

you obviuously dont use you spare, so fibreglass your wheel well, and make that a box.

head over to www.mobileelectronics.com.au its the biggest car audio forum in aus, plenty of ideas and hints there

I'm gonna do this tomorrow, just the sub though. Thanks mate.If it does sound really bad (but I doubt it) the only thing I lose is the piece thin wood that will have a hole in it :)
Should I leave the sound deadening in the centre or can I use a product like foam in a can spray?

So you are doing it for 'handling'??? I fail to see how it will make any difference at all. It probably wont sound as good, and will take up your time do do what you are trying to achieve. Meh. I wouldnt bother, like others have said Id just put the stock piece back in and velcro the box to that.

dude you cant just cut a hole in teh boot liner floor thing and put the sub in.

you need a fully sealed enclosure

I see...makes sense.I gotta stop rushing into things....
Looks like a custom box is in order if I do this.Needs more planning.
Thanks heaps Trism, put my mind at ease.

basically, here is what you need to do.

get some fibreglass supplies. you can get it from bunnings. you need matting, you need resin, and you need catalyst.

lay down masking tape all over the inside of the spare wheel well.

lay down matting, mix up some resin and catalyst and paint it over the top, till the matting is stuck down. you want no gaps between the matting.

wait for that to dry, then do another layer.

you want like 5 or 6 layers.

then get your 18mm mdf, and cut it to shape. use more matting and resin to stick it to it. cut out your sub hole, add more matting and rresin to the inside.

make sure its nice and strong, needs to be strong enough for you to stand on

put it in the wheel well.

but seriously, head over to mobileelectronics.com.au and look at all the tutorials, look at peoples rides, have a search for spare

or wheel well

look what people have done.

its not simple, its not quick, but it is effective.

brett, i had a similar dilemma a few months back

Ended up giving the sub to a mate, and just amping a set of good front stage splits. They give more than enough bass, and you still get the benefits of your stripped rear. Not to mention space in the boot.

just something to think about

Yeah,I did this (http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=92436) in the end.Definately don't need the sub eh!
