Why would you want to change the vtec crossover?

thought it was an ok mod with I/H/E.

maybe not.

Yes u can change whenever u want

U can than see how much power your losing by changing it from where your tuner sets it.

Its not a bad mod by any means, ive seen some quite adequate results achieved from the VAFC when tuned correctly.

Exactly. I wouldnt be messing around with the crossover point. You would be better of getting a good, proper tune.

maybe you gents should elaborate :)

like a lot of young honda drivers they seem to think that vtec makes power and that engaging it earlier will give the power earlier...

No need for elaboration here, maybe in some other thread titled as such where people would find it useful & prob done by someone else who can explain it better than i.

All the OP needs to know in this case,is that there is only one point where u can set vtec on any given vtec equipped car to give maximum efficiency for the switch between low & high cam profiles. The tuner(if they are good enough) will find that point &set it as such.It should then be left there until further modifications are made to the motor or its tuning.

hmmm
in summary... vafc is useless..
all yu need is a a good tune..why bother messing ard with ur vtec crossover..Honda made the crossover at a specific rpm for a reason right.

what if he gets new cams

Nobody said the VAFC/Neo was useless,i even said ive seen good results on mildly modded cars before above.

If u go messing with your fueling maps then it will most likely shift your VTEC point as well. The answer is get a professional to tune your car & he/she? will determine the VTEC point after messing with your fuelling.Whether it be with VAFC,fully programable ECU,whatever.Honda set the most efficient point for the stock ECU calibration,u go messing with that calibration then make sure VTEC is adjusted to suit,if needed.

Cam profile changes definitely throw a spanner in the works.

^^^subjective though.

success and horror stories are about for piggybacks because their only as good as your factory sensors and grounding... if any of them go dud the +-% adjustments of signals to ecu get skewed.

A lot of the ECU upgades like hondata, pfc,etc use the stock factory sensors, nothing wrong with honda sensors at all.Its not till u get into the expensive stuff that u start changing sensors
