Saw this on Carpoint:

http://carpoint.ninemsn.com.au/print.aspx?alias=carpointau&tabID=6485&ArticleID=6523&ModID=16538

$45,000 buys a 1991-92 auto with the more desirable manual worth up to $5000 more.

I've never seen an NSX advertised that low in Aust. I'd be seriously considering getting one if I had..... The dream gets one step closer :)

Yeah, I guess rich folks - rock stars and sports stars and the like - werethe main buyers of NSXen during the 90's. They had to get autos so their bimbo girlfriends could drive them :D

I read that article last month what a load of crap!!

all the facts and figures are just wrong... funny thing the owner and the source for the article gave him different but he chose to ignore it and came up with his own stats.

can't wait for people who've read this article to start ringing up owners with cars for sale that they're now NSX experts and that NSX's are only worth 45K..

yes, they do. and some, if not most of the jap peeps buy the auto and swap them for a manual with a different gear ratio, as they think it's more worthwhile to do such a "mod", rather than getting a manual and having to pay for labour to take the tranny out just to change the final gear.

Source - BMI ;)

toe is right, and with the auto usually never been trash, so its good to buy the auto and convert to manual . . .
you wont find any decent NSX for $45k its just impossible . . .

Most important reason people buy auto's and do the manual conversion is Power steering..

I can only conclude then, that the carpoint author was trying to use his article to make NSX prices go down so he could buy one for himself ;)

why is that? The manuals dont come with power steering? Or is the power steering better in the auto?

Also, where do u get the parts to do the conversion?
not like you can just rock up to your local honda wrecker and ask for it?
Clutch, pressure plate, gearlinkage, gearbox, alot more that i cant remember and dont know as well !

I'm curious about that too. How much it cost to do an auto->manual conversion cost in this country?

Very good condition late(ish) model NSXs still fetch up to $90,000 AUD. I'd be very wary about the condition of any NSX priced at 45K.

No way an NSX would be 4 sale @ $45k. Unless its a fixer-upperers dream...

its true that the nsx's are going for around that price now, I even read in a speed mag (or something) the article of a auto nsx vs the auto supra, that 45 K is an average starting price for an auto 91 nsx.
Later models are obviously more expensive, but dont forget, the 45k price tag is for a 13-14 yr old automotic car.
