Hey everyone,
I thinking of stripping the interior on my EK1, how much weight would it take off if I took out the rear seat and all the stuff in the back?

I would say 60-70kg pushing it, if you're going to do weight reduction, either go all out or dont go at all, no point saving 20kg for example and say yeah that enough, if you're stripping it for a purpose, drop all dead weight

Well if I do it all just take out all the stuff in the back, since I never have anyone in the back anyway. I wana keep all the stuff that's in the front. But 60-70kg, I'm happy with that. I'm only 65kg hahaha

keep in mind if you do go ahead with that, will need to get mod plate for 2 seater

i'l give that a go. lol
theres no way you'll be able to strip out 60-70kgs from just the rear.
strip the rear trims 5kgs, the read sound deadening6kgs, speakers 2kgs, parcel shelf 1.5kgs and spare tyre 7kgs , jack&tools 2kgs and rear seats 5kgs ?
total wont be more than 30kgs
might aswell run lighter wheels, remove aircon and power steering, run lighter seats and mirrors/steeringwheel
remove sound deadening for entire car, firewall carpet and all the shizz under the dash
lol no way, back seats are more then 5kg lol

back seats (2 backs + seat bottom+carpet that goes over the boot area) is about 5-6kg.
IF at a race take out your passengers seat , its 12-14kg.
Also your rear tyre too etc.
why/how does the passenger seat weigh more then the back seats?

why/how ? Isnt it common sense ? Take alook at the thing....its metal framed + base + foam etc.
The rear seats are only foam + MDF. Weigh the entire back seats as i stated , and then weigh only the passenger side seat. Its quite abit.
PS dont take it out for daily driving thats just stupid.

also be careful stripping the rear of the car aswell, it can cause the car to handle differently. The rear end of the car will feel alot lighter.
The rear end will want to slide out alot more through corners

Yeah this is true I found out on a roundabout after taking the spare tyre, jack and carpet out :D I think I need to get coilovers, hopefully it will reduce that a lot...
In an EK1 Sedan is the sound deadening only in the boot?
i agree with what was said, go all out or nothing.
loose wipers and mechanism (front and back) too
