Just did a quick search on lowering a Civic but didn't come up with the answers I was looking for.

Am considering lowering my '99 Coupe along with getting new 16" rims. Just want people's experiences on lowering your Civics and what you reckon is the optimum ride height to lower to. Is a 2 inch drop safe without any scraping? How will the ride quality differ? Can a 2 inch drop be done with the stock shocks? Some pictures of Civics with 16" rims on a 2" drop would be a bonus. Thanks.

2" should be ok. Maybe even 1.5 just to be safe with 16" Rims (depends on how wide they are).

Just make sure you go for 45 series tyres and there shouldn't be a problem.

The tyre size should end up being 205/45/16

A two-inch drop will leave at least a finger gap between the tyre and the guard. If you want an equal gap between the tyre and the guard for both the front and the rear, you should lower the rear more i.e. 2.5-2.75.

This is coming from personal experience and I hope this helps.

So a 2" drop is okay with the stock shock absorbers? There won't be any scraping or premature wear of the stock shocks?

How many k's have you done? Using your new springs on your stock shocks will wear them out faster.
