Hey,
been around for a few months reading through the forums and getting great advice from members which i would like to thank you all for.
Did a search on this but didnt get any specific answers just wondering how much i should expect a 10,000 service to cost with a oil filter replacement and if its actually worth having it replaced

it is worth having it replaced and you should always follow the log book on service sessions.
every 10k or you can be like me and other car enthusiasts and service every 5k.
you can also feel the difference in how smooth it runs after a service. =)

if you want your car top notch, service every 5k for oil change.
oil filter can be better off at 10k.
but check fluids regularly just incase they get used up, check tyres and rotate if necessary, otherwise just get service to do them.

From HA, your looking about $200-250 service. Bit more if your getting oil/oil filter.

i change my oil my self every 5k....and let honda do the 10k intervals.....i find that 10k service alone is too long for my liking....at lik 5k i can see the change in oil color already so at 10k it will be ppretty black the oil so yeah.....i guess it also depends on your driving habits......

just wondering that i've had my euro for 24 months now but it hasn't even done 35k. so should i still book my car in for the 40k serveice?? or can i do a 35k service and then do a major one at 40k??
thankx

i think the servicing manual states 24 months or 40k's? so might aswell just do the major one?

just got my car serviced in under an hour cost $109 for oil filter and oil which im pretty suspicious about, didnt mark the oil filter but the logos are in the exact same position as before car got serviced

lol only i would complain about service being 2 cheap. is that too cheap? lol and apparantly my front tyres need replacing after only 10,000K's. wtf. i was filling tyres to recommended 32psi but i put them up 2 36psi

check how much tread you have left from the nipple in the gap and how the wear in your tyresare.

but yeh that is bloody cheap, did you inspect oil was changed?

Does the invoice say that the oil filter was changed?

Should be a part number along the lines of: 15400 RTA 003 for a oil filter.....

At that price i don't reckon they checked much, just an oil,oil filter change and fluids check.

ahaha so true. The invoice says the oil cost 7.60 and the filter(H/15400 RTA 003) was 16.10 the oil seems heaps lighter in color but at the end of the day the only way you can be sure about the work it do it yourself and save your self heaps.

Oil cost 7.60?

id say thats where the confusion is, oil should be like $30 - $40 at least.

Honda FEO oil is $28 retail for 5L. If they are using oil from a drum, it is much much cheaper. Being charged $40 is too much.

man im getting ripped hard then...how much oil would be used in a service aaron? Would they accept it if i bought my own oil in. They used magnatech oil or something in my car, thats what it says on the invoice

B1767 = 5 litres of FEO 10w30 Honda motor oil full retail is $29.95 over the counter at your local Honda Spare parts dept.

I just saw a invoice for oil that was charged to a retail and a fleet customer by a service department, it was $35.15. $30 - $40 im sure you would find is about average pricing for oil through the service depts.

The majority of service departments around the country buy their oil directly from the suppliers (castrol, caltex, mobil, whoever does the best deal), it is very rare for service to buy their oil through spare parts. The only time oil is ever supplied by spares is the Hybrid oil, which is 0 weight, and the normal service dept sourced oil (10w30) is unsuitable for Hybrid vehicles.

Of course oil bought in bulk is cheaper, that is how the service separtments make some more money!

You guys always have the option of supplying your own oil, it is usually cheaper to buy the genuine stuff from spares, and hand it directly to the service dept! And as long as genuine parts are used, your warranty will remain intact.

As ms700 said 5litres, when i oiled changed it is about 4.7litres to fill up our engine which included me changing oil filter and retopping from empty. But whether you should change to full synthetic i dont think you should yet, maybe semi.
So a 5litre bottle should be fine they prob just add over the required amount.
