Hey guys,

Today I thought i'd take it upon myself to change my PCV valve, seeing as I don't know when i was last changed and I've been burning a bit of oil lately. So I did some research and I know that the PCV valve should be on the back left side of the block on top of a black box-ish thing, and it's the thing with the 90 degree bend in it. Like so:

Now, I'm running a cusco oil catch can so my hose from that box runs to the catch can, and then the outlet hose runs back into the manifold. So, I did some snooping around my engine to find the black box-ish thing and this is what I saw:

NO PCV VALVE!!! AAAAGGHH!! Is this correct? Am I missing a PCV valve?!?

I took my catch can off to inspect and there was a significant amount of oil in there, like 30ml? (I'm not good with estimating liquid volume, so don't quote me on this). So that would be consistent with the PCV valve not filtering some of the oil, right?

If someone can enlighten me that would be really really awesome - thanks guys!

That looks like the charcoal cannister. Start from your intake manifold, follow the tube coming out from it and it should go to the PCV valve. (if it is a B series)

Yeah,your right ,no PCV valve.

Your bottom photos should look like the top photo, with the 90 degree brown thing, thats the PCV valve.

The PCV will not filter any more of the oil out, its just a one way valve, which opens going towards the catch can.

UPDATE: OK it appears that i'm a total nubcake.

Pulled the hose off whatever it was attached to and it looked like this:

Then pull that nozzle out and it turns out it was a PCV valve without a 90 degee bend in it, like this:

The canister without the PCV valve in:

And the new valve installed and connected (yes I know it's not in fully - I fixed that up after this pic):

So, as an aside: this was quite possibly the most fiddly and frustrating thing I've ever done to a car..

Thanks for all your help guys!
