Good for looks but handling isn't the best.Better to get coilovers OR a good spring and shock combe first.Do it once and do it right.

I've heard of em' but not sure how they are.Better getting a known brand like Tein or K-Sport (http://www.boostcruising.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=284227) ones look great.I'm gonna get those ones.A couple of members have em' on here. That link above is the cheapest place to get em' too :)

The cheapest place I know to get Tein's is MAX-HONDAPOWER on here.

$1100ish.There's heaps of damper control so you can stiffen it right up for the track and it's still comfy as for a daily. It's real hard to get the best of both worlds but these ones are the best I have found.

seriously mate, why bother posting at all.

re k-sports, i believe they are as good as any otehr budget shock out there.

however i know of someone who received two defective brand new rears from factory - fixed by warranty.

also see this link. happens to every shock out there, but just this one is a ksport which was excessively lowered.

That is the kind of information you want to provide, not some useless hoo haa on "believe what you want to believe" because that helps no body. simple as that.

and ditch that attitude buddy. johnny may know more about cars than me but big deal. thats his job to know this stuff. go figure.

Taken from the link above:
"i have some updated info on ksports. lot of people are doubting ksports but they improved on their quality. i was reading on honda-tech and found out that ksport did have a few problems with the seals for the shock, but they fixed it a couple months back. so if you get the ksports now, they should be good. no shocks blowing no more..."

Sweet!

Johnny says a lot of stuff are crap unless they are branded i.e. mugen, b-club
Maybe they are... I was also looking into king springs and was told they were a very harsh ride and "f*%ken Sh1t", in the end he suggested skunk2 and lovells springs which he charged around $420 installed...

Chose to save up for coil overs in the end and hopefully run into a set of used ones.

Hey man what are u like 5 years old. grown up?
King springs are fine if you just want to lower your car i used to have them on my EK. Quality wise it last about 3-4 year on mine then 1 snap lol i didnt know till the car got pull aparts. Upgraded to Buddy Club n+ and im pretty happy with them.

Hey dude, you like 3 years old?:thumbdwn: 99% people will say dont go with king springs I was just trying to help this thread starter out, give him some informative feedback about king springs. King springs are very bumpy and soft.

If you are fine with king springs, thats your opinion. Becoz we got the different taste and requirement for the handling parts. OK?

You can say Toyota Echo or Civic EK is your dream car, but they are not my type of tea.

cheers

If you are tight in budget use your OEM shocks normally.

In my experience King Springs aren't too bad. For the cost I think they're excellent. I paid $180 for a full set for my dc4 and not only are they lower (obviously) but compared to 200,xxxkm-old OEM ones they are a great upgrade in terms of stiffness/handling.

They go nicely with my KYB AGX adjustable shocks.

to the OP.
whats your purpose of lowering the car?
for handling or for looks?
king springs are decent/cheap if you are just after looks
if your after flat out handling start researching..

oem is like original parts ... so your shocks that u are using atm , they'll just take off ur springs on your shocks thats on now and then put the kingsprings on .=P

if u want looks and handling then go for some more pricey coilovers

but if u can bare the wait and just want looks for now then go for kings... it does the job for awhile.. =)

are shocks a must for say a 2" drop with stock shocks gone 120,000? From the quotes I've gotten for spring/shock combo, it blows up to around 800+. A couple hundred more and I've got myself coilovers....

evoline

King Springs are by no means a "NO GO" product.
They are quite reliable, they are good in terms for the purpose of lowering your car and making it look better, however for track use i probably wouldn't go for them. But obviously since your car will be lowered it will feel like it handles and corners better due to lower centre of gravity.

Conclusion? King Springs will suffice in lowering your car and getting slightly better results in handling. But if you want something serious, youre gonna pay out of your arse :)

Frankie
18-06-2008, 03:56 PM
man i dont think anyone would use king springs for track... only use them for looks... if you going to upgrade suspension for track people would go coilovers

its not a must but it does help to change them because the comfort of the ride wont be very good and you will put alot of stress on the poor stock shocks and wear them out

Thanks for that. Also, is there a definitive way to know if your shocks are blown/near blown?

And is it actually possible to drive with blown shocks? Just weighing in my options.

SiReal
18-06-2008, 11:23 PM
ur shocks will be pissing out oil like no tomorrow. and your ride will be soft and squeek.

Because there is no dampening, everything else will suffer - i.e. bushings, cv joints, etc, that end up taking the brunt of the dampening.

you can lower just on springs first, but be prepared to invest in another set of shocks in the future.

Frankie
19-06-2008, 09:18 AM
Man you will be able to tell by the rid it will be very bouncy.... you will be able to tell your shcoks are blown by all the dropping of oil you leave everywhere.....

I'm running Super Low King Springs on my Ek combined with Koni Yellow adjustables dumped as low as possible (See avatar) and my car handles like a dream.
Only problem is there isn't even a fingers width of room between the rear guards and tires. I had to have the front guards rolled in order to be able to turn at full lock =P

All in all I would recommend King Springs if you don't mind a hard ride and want less body roll. I think they work pretty damn well.

Ben

SiReal
21-06-2008, 07:54 PM
They work well because you've got awesome dampers to match with them.

This pretty much applies to most springs out there.

Frankie

Consider Bilstein or Koni shocks.

Both available through Whiteline I think. They also offer springs.

Teins also make springs called, S-Tech.
