hey guys,

when doing your valve lash im jsut interested in how much friction you find to be 'enough' on the feeler gauge?

say the range you aim for is .03' to .05' would you alwaysaim for the tightest number or in between?

reason i ask is im curious what people would classify as the proper amount of force being applied onto the feeler.

also do you tighten the nuts down very very tight? i don't have a torque wrench. i tighten pretty tight but not heapppss.

ps. ive done this a few times already lol and all has worked out well but i jsut wanted to double check :p

What engine are you adjusting first?

I'd aim for 0.4 and tighten as much as possible.. but obviously not overtighten....because its too late when you overtighten (snaps)... just tight enough....

its for a b18b - i have the specs for intake and exhaust, but jsut needed to know what you guys think is adequate force to be applied onto the feeler gauge to justify 'tight'

a gental noticable drag on the feeler gauge as you push it in and out is fine

PS

make sure you are doing this DIY when the engine is DEAD COLD :)

Dont do it when the engine is warm.

cheers guys - yes always leave it overnight ben :)

the way i usually do it is to tighten it to the middle amount where its dragging a fair bit on the feeler gauge but then also make sure that the biggest value doesnt fit in to make sure its tight enough.

is this approach alright?

yes that will work as well.

as long as you dont have to rip the feller out forcfully
