in Sydney, you just have to get it blue slipped
then bring your blueslip to the RTA so it registers the new motor to your car.

OMG.JAI xD

or get a mate mechanic to sign a pink slip for ya all the time.

jst make sure you take the blame if u get caught.
cause if u blame it on him. one word. DOGS. =]

cause pink slip states that the technician confirms that the car is in acceptable state "when this slip was signed" or some thing along those lines.
so jst say u did it after the pink slip buh u take blame.
do it every time till u get done for.

just a suggestion. not a good one i know. but yeah. =]

"Only illegal if you get caught" - you didnt hear it from me.

that's pretty immature advice... you know insurance companies will do anything not to pay out and non-matching engine/rego numbers = easy non-roadworthy car... imagine if you hit a pole that fell on a big house then landed on a ferrari... bet you wish you spent $70 for a blue slip then huh?

OP: ironically.. you the only option is the one in post#2 by member "defect"... pretty sure it's same process for Melb

yep! bloody oath it's easy as long as the engine is in good nick, no leaks etc...

eg chassis came out with the b16 in the eg6 therefore the (10% in vic) displacement increase rule doesn't even apply...

when i had my b16 in my eg when i re-rego'd my car i just said there's a new engine number, because it goes on Litre's in engine conversion my old engine was a 1.6 new one is a 1.6 so didn't matter, i also had it transport inspected with the new engine number on the form so prob cause i had that there wasn't any drama

if ur old motor was a d15 (1.5L)... just bring ur receipt of engine purchase with u to vicroads along with a roadworthy certificate and the will change ur rego to suit the new engine number...
if it was a d13 (1.3L) u will need an engineers certificate as well..
in vic u can only increase the displacement of the engine by 10% without having to get the conversion engineered..

ur mechanic should of been able to tell u this...
