hey guys just a small write up of wat i once did with my headers!

Bought this rusty/oxidized header & was about to pay for polishing when i thought i'd give it a try before forking out the money...

to my surprise it worked like a bomb!

not sure if it'll work on unpolished stainless but maybe worth a try!

1. flat down with medium coarse waterpaper until all blemishes are gone
2. flat down with steelwool until you get a smooth matt finish
3.polish thoroughly with buffer applying claybar to buffer after every 3 square inches
4.wipe with turps & bob's your uncle

hope this helps some1, it helped me!

remember guys any polish to a header will be gone after you start up the car :)
heat does strange things to chemicals used on metal

I used 3M stainless steel cleaner on a rag after installing my headers. And now they are a very nice golden colour.

The blue tint or funky colours you get are usually from the oil and grease on your fingers when installing the headers. As the OP, use turps or some sort of degreaser to wipe them down before you start up the car. That will guarentee the nice gold finish.

best thing is to apply a heat proof coating lil expensive but lasts and looks mad. competition coatings in sydney do it ,
