Installed one pretty similar, had a base plate which replaced the oem one.
It's pretty simple just bolt out then in.

did it reduce the throws alot

i've got one in my civic. just the stick, don't think they had a kit for mine.

but anyway, yes, it did reduce the throws quite alot.
nothing like an s2000 shift, but shorter than stock.

my two cents, with the stock gear knob, it does sit a bit low. and leverage becomes a little difficult. But was easily resolved with an aftermarket gearknob of the taller variety.

it was great, reduced throw by around 40% and wasn't that expensive either..

all i can say is B&M are a well known and highly regarded for their short shifters. so you dont have to worry about quality :P

never personally tried the Skunk or the buddyclub shifters...but ive had a few experiences with B&M and yeah never had a problem always pretty good throw shortening and never gave me a hassle.

i would recommend the B&M shifter over the buddyclub and skunk PURELY because ive used B&M before...that being said the buddyclub or skunk could be alot better.

Yeah it does reduce throw a fair bit, I also have the straight B&M one but I was told I should have got the one with the 'bend'. But I like it, you need to use a little bit more effort to shift, not that much really.
Also it's a good idea to get energy suspension shifter bushings for $20 from Online Performance to give shifting a solid feel.
I have the skunk2 knob on mine but some of the thread on the shifter annoyingly shows. I'm guessing with the Skunk2 shifter this doesn't happen. There's my essay!
