View Full Version : Length of swaybar endlinks make a difference?

Just wondering if the length of the swaybar endlinks would make any difference in handling characteristics?

The new whiteline re-inforcemnet kit came with new end links which were much longer than the old ones. The instructions said to use the new endlinks but i think i could have used the old ones again if i wanted to. New endlinks with new bushes would always be better, but would the extra length of the new ones effect the way the swaybar performs?

different because the new swaybar sits slightly higher compared to the old design. Hence you need longer endlinks to connect all the same.

Dont reuse the old endlinks as this could put excess strain or preload on the swaybar and cause issues.

i dont think they should make a difference, i use the whiteline WRX endlinks on my car and it fits fine, but yeah just dont reuse the old 1's

Make a call to centreline...they are the suspension specialist in Melb.

Chris will give you advice.

I always heard the sway bay needs to be horizontal.

The length of the end links is not an issue.

the length of end links is an issue.
He wanted to use other endlinks with this swaybar (not designed for it)
any endlinks that are shorter or longer than intended can preload thebar giving unnecessary wear or handling characteristics.

the endlinks on subject is fixed length.

how bout those adjustable endlinks that came with coilovers.

how would one determine a good length to set it?

with coilovers ? do u mean BLOX etc ?
The idea , as said before is to keep the swaybar in a complete horizontal plane , with the car suspension in static form (no load , only sitting height)
so you can position the bar to the best horizontal plane , then adjust the endlinks from the LCA position to the bar

The stock endlinks are deisgn for stock height correct? When your car is lowered wouldn't a adjustable endlink be useful to set the correct lenght?

exactly correct :)
Hence adjustable BLOX endlinks etc.

The lower you go the more preload on your swaybar and less effective it will be

Ok then so when the car is lowered, the part of the lca where the endlinks are connected will sit slightly higher, pushing the swaybar up. Therefor your endlinks would have to be slightly shorter to compensate for the higher position of the LCA.
Correct me if im wrong...

I won't use the shorter endlinks that i have as they may be too short but maybe the adjustable endlinks will be of some use.

Cool, might put the blox endlinks to use. Been sitting collecting dust LOL.

Blox make adjustable endlinks. Around $40US i think?
