The whistling noise that changes with rpms as you drive, and is noticeable
mostly when music is low or not playing is referred to alternator whine.

I'm willing to bet you that there is a cheap, low quality amplifier
somewhere in your friends car, and/or a poor quality installation.

Noise filters and the like don't do anything more than occasionally reduce
the noise slightly. Sometimes they make it worse! A quality installation
with quality components should yield very little or no noise at all. That,
and properly adjusted system settings.

Once you find the amplifier, you can try turning down the sensitivity/gain
adjustments on it, and that may reduce or eliminate the noise while
hopefully still leaving plenty of "volume" in your system.

Hope my post help you and ur friend out...

Hey bud
i've come accross this prob a few times normally caused by double grounding audio equipment like amps, etc.
Usually its when you screw or fasten your amp down to ya car into the metal frame/chassis. The screw touches the amps chassis and connects to you cars chassis your vehciles ground. i dont know why it makes it whistle or whine but it does 9/10 cases.

Cheers

Its just bad grounding, usually happens with pioneer head units.
Does the noise follow the rpm's? ie goes louder at higher rpm.
If it does its just the head unit.

Run RCA Cables and Battery cable away from eachother.
Run the rca cables down one side of the car and the battery down the other.
should do the job.

Ive got the same problem, i eliminated the amps and the rca's it is definately comming from the headunit, a power filter didnt solve it, any ideas i am using the original ground that the OEM honda headunit used, should i change this.
Head unit is poineer and has been sent back once came back and worked fine but noise started after a few days so im thinking somthing is damaging it, want to fix it then send the headunit back so any info would be great.

Cheapo rca cables caused this once for me as well. Any connections on rca including splitters etc. Use the good stuff it all worth it.

one mistake most people make is that

i have many things to say about wows install team but im guessing
i cant here...

running the power cable along side the RCA's
if your using a cheap install kit run the power down one side of the car
and the RCA's either down the middle or side which ever is easiest...
