hey people's,

has anyone had this service done before and how much did you pay..

i refuse to go to service centers other then honda, reason being is cos they seem to use shitty stuff and ruin's my car so only honda dealerships..

but any hows just curious into what they might do on this service.. (160 000) cos the price i was quoted was rather steep.. $700 :|

thanks for input =]

Well I have had the opposite. Two bad experiences with two different Honda dealerships.

When I got the major 160,000KM service done at a Honda dealer it was at the $700 mark as well in Brisbane, mind you when you actually break down the receipt majority of it is labor say around $400. This is with timing belt, fluids etc. Now at 174,000KM with no drama's at all with a couple of oil changes in between.

For me it's just to know that it's been done by a workshop who work on honda's daily. Of course a few people will have their horror stories about dealerships.

If your car is like a baby to you, go for it, then you can keep on driving up towards 200,000KM with oil changes and enjoy your honda! Aswell as that you should wan't to look after it, and know that to look after it properly will come at a price.

thats true, i got a cost sheet and most of them were useless, like work shop costs etc etc.

you could drive up here to SYD , get one of us DIY guys to do it and drive back and still have alot of change from $700 lol.

To have an idea what they do, just look in the log book.

Theres a check list on what they replace and inspect on the 160,000km mark.

Off the top off my head:
Oil (of course)
Oil filter (derrrr)
Trans fuid
Radiator fluid
Brake fluid
etc...

=)

That's not half bad, I have the 200k major up in the EJ8 soon and for genuine Honda parts alone (water pump, timing belt, x2 hose for rad, enough coolant to do the job and the appropriate seals) it was a round 400 for the lot. Still debating doing it myself if labour for those items blows out. I find it hard giving my hard earned cash to apprentices to do the work instead of the qualified staff as of late at my current workshop i used to go to

Oil and oil filter do it yourself, dead easy. Transfluid is a bit more involved, just need to have the car level when u undo the drain bolt and you need a funnel with a bent hose to get the new fluid into the side hole on the transmission (D16Y8 anyhow). Rad fluid is easy depends if you flush it or not both ways are fairly straight forward. Brake fluid should be good, most people only change it when the brake pads are due. Other items you may want to inspect/replace at this time is the fuel filter, it needs replacing every 40,000, so it may have already been done prior. The spark plugs, air filter also very easy jobs that can be done at home. For all the parts I have listed above I go to Honda for, even the oil as I reckon it's a better product that others for the D16Y8 anyhow
