serach mf ! its in DIY section
covered heaps of times
off the top of my head
remove neg terminal from battery
take out backup ecu fuse
go take a dump
come back
connect it all up
let it idle for 5 min
go for cruise taking it easy through rev range
hey presto
ecu has been reset.

it's complicated at the very least... pull the ECU fuse out for 10 seconds bang GG

sounds easy and whats the reason for resting it ???
is it because of mods that you have doen to your car

usually when you install something like an after market air filter or your car is a bit worse than usual.

if u don't know what it does then y do u wanna do it?
alot of ppl like to have their ecu reset for it to 'relearn' all the new mods ie a intake or something
but ur ecu will eventually learn it either way so it's not really something u need to do

haha didn't mean to attack ya mate
i just found it odd that u wanted to know how to do something without knowing what it does first?
kinda like running b4 walking.
nEwho i personally don't think it's necessary but hey if ur bored then by all means =)

disconnecting the battery resets the KAM (keep alive memory) which is the way a car learns to drive and handle everything that it operates. might suggest and idle relearn if you do that. take off the battery terminal leave off for around 5mins put back on take the car for a drive so its up to operating temp turn off then back on and let it idle for a few mins without A/C on then turn A/C on and let it idle for a few more mins and it should have learnt all it needs to. If its Auto do it with A/C off in each gear then A/C on in each gear (leave in gear for a few mins). that should get you out of trouble

Never heard of the auto one...does it work on all cars? just hondas?? and do you reset on a cold engine or warm engine?

aside from removing stored fault codes, there is absolutely no reason to reset an ECU. period!
Waste your time on something else, like washing the car...

I can think of a few.
Like replacing a lazy O2 sensor, adding breathing mods, replacing dirty air filter, dirty fuel filter or clogged injectors cleaned up..........u really dont want to have to wait for the long term trims to readjust, especially with the price of fuel these days

well then why not explain the benefit ?
the ECU learns in realtime, the condition of all sensors, that includes ALL the above you mentioned. Long term O2 will completely recycle faster than you realise, and if you reset it, will need to learn again ANYWAY.
ECU will alter output signals from the ECU as required to attain an oscillation around 14.7-1 AF under closedloop and will use table values in openloop.
Ill say it again, there is NO reason to reset the ECU other than what I stated.
Enjoy washing the car! Give her a wax too

ok for instance i work for ford if you own a XR6 turbo with an auto and you drive it around like a grandma the auto will learn soft shift patterns and might reduce power somewhat. if you clear the KAM it resets the vehicle to factory and it doesnt know anything. take the car out for a hard flog for 15mins or so and it will learn to be driven hard and adjust the way everything works for power

i reset my ecu on wednesday as i had an o2 sensor error code coming up. crxer guided me through it. its pretty intense if you dont know ur way around cars.....
but here it goes...
take out the 7.5a fuse from ur fuse box.... then after a while put it back in. let it idle. then go for a drive on the freeway... good luck
it also resets ur sounds system which was very annoying..
