Yeah, you should try and get your money back.

I got a chip put in my Home DVD player to make it play 'all areas'.It was one of the first ones that came out in the first 9 months so it couldn't play 'all areas'.U might be able to do the same?

Theres no lesson to be learnt. I did everything by the book and proper research. I did pay with paypal but i really dont have the time to remove it,go thro the whole process of geting hte money back. I got it for $699 delivered so thats alright i guess.

Ring up some electrical repair places and see if they can put an 'all areas' chip in it.

i seriously dont know how you guys do it..
pay pal or not.. giving $500+ to someone who can potentially just run off with it or just simply jip you..

i've never trusted ebay.. or things alike. like anything under $200-300 i wouldnt mind as much.. anythign over $500.. id rather be safe and go to a shop
lol

Contact the seller first regarding this. Ask for a replacement unit which IS region free. If he doesn't want to do so, then you escalate it to paypal/ebay and get your money back (minus some fees)

that's how i feel- or used to feel back then. one ebay seller understood my concerns and he was cool with meeting up in person and then letting me pay a deposit upfront, and the rest upon pickup of the goods from his house. a year later, whenever i need parts i go to this guy cos i trust him.
