hey guys, just wondering which exhaust i should get. A customized 3" exhaust straight thru no muffler,a 2.5" Tanabe SMH Exhaust, Fugi Power Getter or a HKS super silent.

I was planning to get a 3" exhaust straight thru no muffer, like my old BC spec2 one.

Prices are $550 for straight thru 3", Tanabe $700 Fugi $650 Hks $700
Just thinking if the branded ones have anything over the customized one or will i be paying a lil extra for the name..

Also i already have Headers, and hi flow cat with 3" collector just wanna have a complete system to top it off =)

Can anyone give me some ideas on which one i should go for? cause i will be getting either one of these next week

Cheers guys

The fellers in the states run 3 and that seems to work well. As long as you keep it straight with minimal bends it will be fine,

Sweet, i know 3" will lose abit of bottom end but will have good top end, but i didnt really want the bottom end lag. will 2.5 straight thru be too restrictive?

I have just installed a 3" with toda heads and 3" cat. Let me tell you that there is no loss anywhere in the rev range. The car revs out quicker and is livelier from start to finish. Its also a little louder too though. Call it imagination but I should have put my money on the three inch from the start!

Hope this helps.

BTW 3" may be beneficial if you have I/H and possibly ECU too. On a stocker it may not be as good!

I used to have 2.5 straight through w/o muffler or resonator with spoon header combo, that's just too friggin loud for a daily drive car. I shift at 2000 rpm top otherwise it's just ridiculously loud. So watch out for cops.

the power gain is not significant w/o muffler, I tested on dyno it only gives 2kw extra top end

someone told me before that some race track actually limit the noise level, e.g. phillip island. Someone got banned for the day with BC2 on DC2R.

I am actually will do a custom b-pipe for my dc5, as I already have spoon axle back. So should I just go 3" then? LOL

Magnaflow cannon. Heaps louder but since the 3" went in. Will need to put a dog in the middle to take the edge away.

No matter what It'll still be loudish.

Oh well!

Yea, i dont think many people run 3" exhaust on the dc5 though, i usually just see 2.5", is there a reason why to this though?

because we all made mistakes by getting 2.5inch wen we were noobs with cars.. now that we kno we all want 3inch haha.. my next upgrade will be 3inch for sure! :D

Local zorst shop, in Hornsby. Not brain surgery to install a 3" in a Honda.

Because most people with a DC5r use it as a daily, and a 3 inch exhuast is going to be very loud, and if you drive on the high way, VERY annoying. Remeber DC5r dosn't have sound deadening, so the exhuast note is going to echo through the cabin.

I have been in a DC5r with a Buddyclub Spec 4 (or which ever is the really loud one). I was only in the car for about 30min and it turned me off loud exhuasts (reason why i run Mugen)

People from the states have been using the 3" systems for years, and alot of the kswap people in Aus have been also so its nothing new, just that people don't want to draw attention to themselves.

If your after as much performance gain as possible, get the 3", but just make sure you have all the other required mods to make it all work (intake and ECU)

hey mate, did you have to retune your car after you got the exhauste? cause im in the same boat as you, i have i/h/e/kpro and was wantin to go 3'' but was worried bout retune...

2.5' on a stock k20 is fine with bolt-ons.

If you have a full built k20 or k24 setup then 3' is the way to go.

Not too worried atm as I'm sure just the exhaust wont change mixures that much. I am doing some intake mods and will consider re-tune after that as it costs a small fortune to have it done right :)

from what i heard. the K20 Engines dont like restricted exhaust flow. soo yeh if this helps in any way. thats why no k20 would get a twin loop =)

So would 2.5inch straigh thru be beneficial with bolt on mods? I kinda want it to be like a bc spec 2. I miss that high pitch note =)

as long as you don't go below 60mm that will be beneficial.
straight thru zorst sounds awesome at WOT, sounds like formula 1 except the speed :D

I kinda feel kinda embarrassed actually, coz it's freakin loud but the car is still quite slow. If I got a fully build motor maybe I won't LOL
