View Full Version : Vibration on acceleration
Hi all,
I have been driving my daughter's Honda Jazz in the last few days and have noticed that the car vibrates on acceleration from the back wheels. Vibration occurs few seconds when I accelerate the car from standstill. If I try to accelerate the car when it's rolling, then there is no vibration. I also hear constant loud noise from the back when I drive the car over 80km/hr. Can any one please tell me where the problem comes from? How can it be fixed? The car is the Jazz VTI-S (auto) 2004 and has done 35000kms. Thanks.

ahh.. its a common problem for the preface lift model.
Its either the rear wheel bearing or the cvt require flush. most likely the rear wheel bearing.

I'm no expert on the Jazz but hopefully can get you started. I know the Jazz CVT auto has been known to have issues in low km vehicles, so to try narrowing down possibilities you could search "jazz cvt problem" or similar.
Vibration at the rear is odd though, unless the vibration from the front resonates in the rear of the chassis?....
All I can think of, good luck :)
EDIT others beat me to it ^^^

yes pre 2006 model does have the cvt shudder problem. But this can easily be solve by doing a cvt flush. It is required to do so at 40,000 services. So you are not far away. They require it to flush and reprogram the cvt which should cost you around 250 - 300 at dealer.

Thanks kelvinthai. I think there are two separate problems: the CVT and the rear wheel bearings. Any suggesttion of dealer or mechanic workshop should I take the car to? It is out of warranty.

yes are two possible problem. given the low millage i would rather stick to the cvt shudder. mayb if you give more detailed information others can help out. try posting this on ausjazz.org. thats the site delicate to jazz.
Either you bring it to mechanic to have your cvt flush (buy the cvt oil from dealer coz you cant use a normal one) or go to the dealer which should cost around 250-300.

yep sounds like start clutch shudder, does it only happen on take off at roughly the same rpm?
noise from the rear will be your tyres or rear wheel bearings. the bearings are common to fail on the jazz.
regardless i would take it to a dealer to get it checked out.
a cvt flush shouldnt coz you any more than about $130, not $250-300 as kelvinthai says
seeing as the car has only done 35k you MAY be able to get it under warranty still as it's a common issue
what state you in? if in melb shoot me a pm

$130???!!!! where?? i am in melb :p
Mine price are from honda dealer which include recalibrate of the CVT. PM me if you can get it cheaper :p I been wanting to do mine..
I paid $440 for fixing the problems at dealer in Sydney. $120 for the CVT flush and $320 for changing the rear wheel bearing (since the car is out of warranty). It seems OK in the meantime.
