fd1 blowing black smoke issues

hi guys, just thought i would ask here:
the other day a friend was following me home, and coming on the fwy i gave it a bit of a squirt and apperntly i blew some black smoke.

now ive been told a small amount of black smoke isnt too bad (excess fuel) but should it be doing this (06 car)?

i was thinking as i have an intake, the a/f meter was having a sad and just dumping too much fuel?

either way just wondering if anyone come help me here lol

well how much black smoke are u talkin here?...a lil bit is aight...ive seen a integra fkn blow out sooo much black smoke out of its exhaust...but then again ive seen a stock golf gti spit out a lil bit of black smoke.

Black smoke is fine. Means that the ECU is squirting in more fuel. Happens because the stock ECU tune is conservative at full throttle. If you blew white/blue smoke, then you should get worried!

My '98 Civic CXi used to blow smoke when I gave it a bit of stick.I put that down to driving it like the proverbial old lady for the first 1,000 Kms.
I believe that my CXI was not properly "run in" and that may have caused the piston rings not to seal the best they could-hence the smoke.
My FN2 now has 6,000klms but as soon as I got the car I made sure that I "ran it in" good and proper by placing the engine under load,alternating between low,medium and high revs etc.-Not one bit of smoke when I drive normally or when I give it some stick.

Poor ring seals cause blue/white smoke because the blowby pushes oil vapour back into the EGR distribution plate. If you have black smoke at the same time, it could be the oil vapour reducing the octane rating of the mixture, then the engine's knock sensor picks it up and retards the ignition + adds in more fuel to protect the engine. Hence the black smoke.
