K-series Thermostat

Hi i was just wondering if someone could help with some info regarding K series thermostat.

Here is how my current thermostat is fitted up...

FACING UPWARDS..
i then unbolted it to turn it around to face downwards like i have seen with other K series thermostat but the engine is blocking the way..
