I am wondering, in 2005 Civic Hatch (EU3) How do I see the engine oil level?
I have dried the dip stick, and put it in, and when I take it out, the whole stick is covered with oil, unlike my EK which only the part with two holes covered with oil.

Thx in advance.

Let the engine sit for about 5 minutes and try again. It could be some oil caught in the galleries by the surface tension.

let it sit for a while longer after it has been run.oil must get caught up somewhere while making its way back down to the sump.

other than that, then you have too much oil in your engine, but yeh, most likely you just need to wait a lil longer

EDIT-i forgot to mention,if your checking it while the car is running then yes it will be all up the stick....make sure your doing it while the engine is stopped and has sit for a few minutes

yeah had this problem with my EU also. Just give it about 5 mins. Or this is what i do if i look to quickly, i usually look at the part that is fully covered in oil and ignore the little bits higher up.

But just to be safe i ususally check it later on

make sure it's on a flat surface....

nah its a prob with the way the EU engine is setup. Its puts bits of oil all over the dipstick from the top, and it makes it hard to see, especially when you just put new oil in it

for accurate reading
do it when your car is engine is cold
make sure your car is on a flat surface
pull out the dipstick, wipe the oil completely with a clean cloth then put the dip stick back in (make sure it goes in straight) then pull it out again for the reading

Well it depends if your doing a oil change.. coz ur suppose 2 start car up after filling it den let it sit say for min 20 - 30secs den check level.. or if its just an ordinary day & ur checking it's best what them smart blokes said with car on flat surface & engine is cool.
