hi guys,
im thinking of changing my gear box oil to redline mtl.
just curious to know how much oil the gear box takes in the DC5S?
would anyone recommend a different type of oil?
im pretty sure ive broken a mount or two which could contribute to the rough feeling when shifting into 2nd and 3rd gears.
how annoying :(
I think alot of people would tell you to stick to Honda gearbox oil

give the royal purple gearbox oil a try, i highly recommend it.. it worked a treat in my gearbox. from what ive heard the redline shock proof eats your syncros away!

Royal purple is very thick. We put that into an RX-8 and we couldn't get it to flow through the tube!

Gripping? What is gripping? Do you mean your clutch? The clutch does not get affected by the transmission fluid.

gripping as in it was easier to find gears and shifted slightly smoother , but thats probably just me

^ isn't that what a lubricant should do?

Yeah, then it's meant to do that since it is new fluid.

please stick to oem Honda Oil, go to Honda you'll prob need 3 bottles, be under 30 for the lot, buy new washers while youre there for the drain and fill bolts

i didnt have a problem when putting into my gearbox, i found that its not as thick as the redline stuff. ive used redline before in my other cars and found that it breaks down to quickly where as this royal purple stuff is still as good as when i first put it in. clean, crisp engagement in every gear.

You probably used Redline lightweight. The correct Redline is Superlight for Hondas.
