Mandrel bends provide a cleaner flow as they dont put 'creases' in the pipe as apposed to a standard bend. That being said, it is more expensive.

brench press? like a bench press? lol

nah yea like Zdster said mandrel is the way to go

it's like those straws with the bendy bit. u can bend the straw which ever way u want and it's stil perfectly round inside

try doing it to a normal straw and u'd find a hard time suckin up that mountain dew son!

The high flow cat I got its got water in it, whats the best way to dry it up…air hose it or just leave it out in the sun?

well water in ur exhaust is never good (i know it happens cuz it's part of the combustion reaction etc etc)

so if got time then get a hair dryer?

how'd u get water into it anyway...

its been sitting out side vertically with the b-pipe attached to it bought it awhile ago.. if I can get most of the water out and leave it in the sun to dry up, that should do the work right?

The core of the cat is not made of steel. So it won't rust. Is the piping of the cat stainless steel? I'd just get as much water out as possible, put it on the car and drive with it. The hot exhaust gas should get the water out easy.

would bench press provide the same power as mandrel bends??any difference in power?

dude... i told u this already...

look, if u bent a piece of metal pipe with ur bare hands (lets assume ur the hulk for arguments sake)

ur guna have a fold in the middle where u bent it.. so it's going to bottle neck and less air = less power

cuz an engine requires fuel + air and a spark right?

basic combustion eqtion

with mandrel bent pipes the circumference is the same all round so the same amount of air can go from a------>b

given there aren't too many windy bits in the middle.

so yes! there is a difference.

really depends on the car. If its a basic model, it will make nominal difference if its press or mandrel.

People who are looking at getting the most of of their cars get mandrel.
The difference is nominal but it gives you the most potential.

Difference is as low as 1hp on a 1.6litre and could be as high as maybe 20hp on a boosted car.

^^^
that is true

but his Q was if there was a difference
and there is.

as to how much? thats a completely different thing in itself.

A 2.25 inch bench press in areas would at best be 2 inches. With this you may have as well keep your standard piping as they are'nt too bad when it comes to the bends.

Spend the extra money on mandrels. Worth the money!

It should'nt be that hard to fit a mandrel to a civic anyways. Not the worlds most complicated exhaust!

don't know why would would bother even asking the question, go with mandrel
