ok i am thinking of modifying the air intake on my 95 odc.

but the stock air intake is confusing the crap outta me. especially since the air has to flow from on top the air box near the top of the headlight, then down into the bumper into the rsonator, back up into the airbox, thru the filter, then thru the pipe past these "pods" and then into the throttle body.

i am thinking of 2 things.

1. put in a proper CAI or SR intake. simple. (not many are around cos the 95 ODC is not a popular car and is getting old now), i am a sheetmetal tradesman so i could probably make my own up though.

2. modify the stock intake by leaving the stock piping, and riping out the resonator and filter and replacing with a K&n panel filter and a homemade cai from the bottom of the stock air box into the bumper.

so far sounds simple right ?

well the stock piping has these "pods" branching of it which lead nowhere and are probably inhibiting air flow.

so what are these pods exactly? and would it b better going with option 1 as these "pods" are no good.

You can do a couple of things:
1/ keep the stock intake arm and filter, run some flexlible PVC tubing from the front bumper (replacing the stock resonator, most people remove the resonator altogether i think).
2/ look for a complete aftermarket CAI/SRI
3/ replace stock filter with a K&N/aftermarket panel filter while replumbing the stock resonator with piping (bunnings is best source, black flexible stuff)

You probably have more options but that's all I can think of with my limited knowledge :D

that sounds like the easier way but with those "pod thingys" i dont know if they are a waste of time as they may stuff up the flow of air (add more turbulance/resistance) therefore making any mod with keeping the stock intake arm a waste of time of not.

have tried to show these pods as best as i can in the pic, maybe someone will know what they r for and if they r critical or not.

as it is with the air being sucked from the top, down thru the resonator back up again etc is without question putting too much resistance for a good result.
so the resonator would have 2 go 4 sure, but is the intake arm worthwile keeping with those pods ?

imo, get rid of the resonator and plumb the stock airbox with some flexible tubing straight to where the air is sucked in. Will help with more air and since all you can see is the stock intake on top, lovely with the cops =]
