Very nice.

I run an imported '90 SiR with the B16A as stock. Have had it for 3 years now and it's still going strong.

setanta what do your model siRs weigh? just comparing them to the 2nd gen siR crxs..i think they weigh in at about 980 kg or more depending on whether they have ABS etc..

Civic Si...

My friend is the one who purchased the EF...seen in person...not bad man...but he's gonna make some changes to it I'm afraid...

He gonna change the rims, exhaust and the bonnet...now a question on behalf of him...

Would you happen to know the exact colour codes for "Mazda MX5 Splash Green, with Amestous Pearl ( Purple )"

As I said he wants to get a new bonnet...

Thanks so much

What engine mounts were running on that ED? I'm guessing Place or Hasport as it still runs the ED bonnet, not the EF8/9 or XT25 setup. Looks like a nice ride all up - you don't happen to have the original engine mounts lying around do you? Mine are stuffed and last time I had to replace the LHS one I had to order through Japan via NZ - and then wait 3 months for it :?

DCIEVR,

the colour code for Mazda Splash green is 25R. All you have to do is tell the supplier the name of the Pearl which is Standox Amestous Pearl.

my EF needs an engine transplant i hear its pretty damn pricey for a b16a so i was considering a zc 16

its okay for the moment it beats some lancers :)

Don't bother with the ZC (aka D16A8 here in OZ).

IF you are going the engine swap, just go the b16a once and for all.

yeh thats wot i was thinking too
but ive heard they are pricey

LOL

ZC is nice - B16A is a lot of hassle - unless your EF came with it from factory :)

Should be able to pickup a D16A front cut from around 2.5K. If you are going to keep the car, then go the B16, otherwise get the D16A8.

But your car i've heard is pretty quick (a key factor being weight!) so if you do get the D16A8 and do good intake and exhaust work, you'd have a pretty quick car!

I got the kit from cyber its the only kit for the civic ive seen that doesnt look but ugly - that kit and another one i seen on a ef with and online front bar its the red one with a dragon airbrushed on the side

yeh the thing im spewin about having a dual carb is i cant have an aftermarket computer or do really much engine work ive done a lil not a lot really

Setanta
18-09-2003, 06:12 PM
You have 98bhp from the twin-carb - maybe go I/H/E. Peter at Hanny's knows of a few tweaks for the carbs - bike jets and changed springs I think - anyone else have an idea on this? BTW - your car is one of the few that will REALLY benefit from a CAI - seeing as the thing draws it's air from the engine bay.

Cheers

I tried CAI with a home job the thing ran like a slug, probably cause of my exhaust its a 2/14 cat back into a 4/12, 5 inch cannon to much back pressure cause it ran okay with CAI before i put on the monster zorst

i also got defected for having it on there - the cop looked at me and said what the **** is this thing?? - i said it was factory standard lmao i dont think he liked me being a smartass cause he then defected me for my pedals heheheh

ive got an EF also.... (in my AV)

i rang good performance, and even if you get a front cut for under 3g your looking at a minumum of 5 to 6k to get it put in all up including parts.

you will need to upgrade your bonnett to a crx bonnet and get mounting kits also......

EYEZ4U

yeh i know its a lot of work ... think i mite just keep it a cruiser :)
wait till i egt my next car before i go for performance

I've seen front-cuts go for about 2K. 5-6 grand is a bit rich for installation.

Spend 600 on hasport mounts to fit the B16A and gearbox to the enginebay (you cant use the factory mounts). Swap the engine and ancilleries across. If you got the EF bonnet etc then you can use the radiator mounts etc. Change the instrument cluster across. Install the ECU. Swap over the driveshafts and brakes.

Add an exhaust (700 bucks is what I was quoted for one including muffler and high-flow cat).

Then take the wiring loom to an electrician - most will be plug and play - you just need to splice in the ED stuff.

Do it yourself and I'd suggest it should go for about 4-5K complete.

Of course, this is a simplified view - I've never had to put it into practice, but when I was looking at putting a ZC into an EF it was going to set me back 2500 complete turn-key with me doing a bit of the work.

Rowie

it all comes down to part accessability, and how much work you are willing and able to yourself.

the 6K estimate was including labour for good performance to do it all after sussing out all the parts.

4 to 5k is still alot of money to spend on a 13 year old car.

my suggestion is to keep your current engine running, and start looking into a dc2 or dc5 :D :D or buy an EF with a B16a already in it for almost the price of putting one in your current car. :D

Setanta
21-09-2003, 12:35 AM
Ummm... I already have that :P Honda did it at the factory 13 years ago

Why do it? For the same reason I loved modding first gens - they are classic cars that respond well to engine transplants :)

4-5K isnt much in terms of a good package that gets a good HP increase.

Cheers

Gee - I've only just finished going through the process in this thread and you tell me I'm wrong???? Thanks :?

I've only spent 3 years on forums with US 4th gen nuts who have done the swap and detailed the process quite clearly - but your cousin obviously knows better

With the money that you've saved from your 1500 front cut, how about you buy a clue :(

It dose cost but you can have it all done for around $6000 including parts and half cut and install...
