View Full Version : Signs Of A Faulty Master Cylinder?

Can someone whos had their master cylinder replaced tell me what to look out for signs that the master cylinder is on its way out, or give me links to old post
And will the dealer replace it straight away
Reason is my clutch screeches / grind whiles takeing off on a hill start or if i ride the clutch on take off on level surface

That grinding noise is the sound of the release bearing and not the master cylinder.

look on the carpet around the clutch pedal and around the clutch pedal area. is there oil? if so, thats ur clutch master cylinder gone

EuroAccord13 is right, the screeching problem is caused by the clutch release bearing.

How old is the car? If it is young, the dealer might replace the clutch release bearing under warranty.

the cars a 2006 model and im pretty sure its still under factory warrenty
whats the chances it will be replaced with out them blaming wear and tear

im pretty sure there no oil on the carpet around the clutch

It is NOT a master cylinder problem, so you won't get clutch fluid on the carpet (it is not oil). It is a clutch release bearing problem and I would hope that they cover it under warranty. Being an 06, it should be covered. Do you sit at the traffic lights with your clutch pressed in? Do you rev the engine while the clutched is pressed?

No i dont have my clutch pressed in at light ( mayb a few times but not on a regular basis
and i dont rev the engine whiles it been engaged,

Spoke to the service department and they want me to prove this noise any1 know how to make this problem happen on a regular basis so they hear and replace the release bearing

Take off from a standstill on an upward slope. :thumbsup:
Ask the mech if you can do the driving and he listens.

How much would something like this cost to be fixed?
