Hi,

just did a quick search on the net n the forum but couldnt find much. Just wondering how often i should reoil my k&n pod ? And is it true that if it loses the red colour, its because of no more oil ?

Cheers

You need to use the K&N filter cleaner and then oil it. Do it every 6 months if you do reasonable kms.

I think in the instructions it was 10,000 miles, which is 16,000km. It is actually up to you. Just check it every 6 months/10,000km and if it is really dirty, take it out to clean. Remember to let it dry fully before re-oilling.

aaronng does this only apply for k&n or most pods out there?

Most,if not all aftermarket performance air filters require periodic servicing/cleaning/oiling regardless. Most people just couldn't be bothered. They whack it on & forget about it,until the motor starts to play up.

I'd take it as the same with most brands of "washable" pods out there because the amount of dirt you suck in is the same for the area that you live in. If you do get a dust storm in your area, then of course, you might have to clean it more often. It's alright though if you don't clean it when it gets dirty, the trapped dirt actually acts as a bed filter, helping to filter out smaller particles. The downside is that flow gets restricted and you lose power and fuel economy.
