gday all.

so i thought i'd go and buy some rainx and some new wiper refills today.

got home and was installing it only to find out the LONG (drivers side) wiper rubber was longer than the one i bought.

the 6mm width fits fine, but the wiper i got was only 610mm in length. the stock one is about 650mm in length. (2006+ model euro with the rubber wiper blades)

has anyone found an non-OEM wiper refill that is longer than 610mm? i was in kmart and 610mm seemed to be the longest one they've got! :(

You have to buy OEM.I don't think there are any aftermarket inserts for 06 or later.

i bought some that fit and worked fine, it just happened to be about 40mm short.

just wondering if anyone has seen anything longer than 610mm in length?

Once you remove the blade assembly from the car, just peel back the end that has "LOCK" and slide it out. Wiper blade cover shouldn't break unless it is crusty and brittle.

Do you peel back the blade cover at the end where the lock is? I'm folloing the manual to scretch the end where the lock is but I can never stretch enough space for the blade to come out!

power_of_dreams

yes peel back the very end. It should stretch far enough for the blade to come out. if not, pull harder :D

Yeah just pull the end back to access the insert.

The instructions should be in your Honda User Manual.

You are going to run around town for the sake of $4?

p.s. On a side note - Toyota wanted $210 ($70ea) for new wipers on my Prado. I told them where to go obviously.
Always ask what they are going to do for service when you take your car in, so you can tell them what you want done with out any surprises.

Back in my dealership days we gave up on fitting no gen to the euro's. Having 2 much trouble with the width and length.

I've got the genuines in mine and mum's is on its 3rd set of gen's in 4 years/100,000kms. And will keep using them.

Cost a few $$ more but saves a lot of stuffing around and trouble.

If you have a 2003-2005, PIAA silicone inserts are the best I've found. Cost me $36 from overseas, but 1 set lasted me 2 years. The Honda refills cost me $30 but lasted only 6 months.

Just reading up, alot of people are changing the actual wiper blades. Is this necessary or should I just be looking at a quality rubber insert?

Not much choice with 06 then. If you are able to measure your stock inserts (length, width and how it secures on the blade), then maybe you can find an aftermarket equivalent.

You don't need to change the blades unless they are damaged. Just change the inserts.

I'm just picky. If they start streaking, I toss them out. My dad says his silicone lasted 11 years as well, when I drove his car, the wipers streaked like hell! Depends on personal standards. LOL.

I still have my previous PIAA pair which I used for 2 years. If anyone in Sydney wants it for $5, let me know and I can bring it to the next Euro meetup. LOL

are you using any washer or windscreen additives?
I'm using some ghetto armorall windscreen wash and am planning on using rainx soon (bought it, but havn't applied it)

if I look at my windscreen closely, I can see marks where the blades aren't in contact with the screen due to skipping and chattering.

Try pulling apart the wiper blade to see if the refill is a standard type that is just encased in the low profile plastic. If you can measure the length, width, height and also take a pic of the end of the wiper blade rubber, then we can see if a standard blade can be retrofitted into it.

I actually bought Aunger, and cut it.
The problem is that Aunger includes two parts for one piece of refill (base plastic support and rubber insert). Rubber will not be fit in without base support, but the rubber would be higher with base. In this circumenstance, I found the rubber could not wipe windscreen perfectly .

which size do you want to know? Aunger supports 6mm and 8mm wide both.
The deep will cause problem for MY06. Like above, the rubber could not work properly. Even the stuff of store said Aunger was very bad quality:confused:. It was $9.15.

They are quite simple to remove. Just peel back the rubber at one end and slide the blade out, if you look closely at the photo you can see I have done that to take the photo.

Sorry about the poor quality photo. This is a photo of the driver and passenger side wipers from my '08 Euro (build '07). Both blades are the same width (6mm) and profile. Length is 650mm driver, 375mm passenger.
That's very similar to the 03-05 blades, except that the middle strip is much much wider. The 375mm in 6mm width is easy to get, but finding 650mm in 6mm width will be difficult. Aftermarket 650mm length refills are almost always 8mm in width. Those Trico or Aunger universal refills with both 6 and 8mm width might fit.

Just bought a pair of universal fit(6mm/8mm) 710mm inserts and cut them to fit my 07 Euro. Works fine. Paid $10 for them from Super Cheap Auto.

Now to put some RainX on and I'm ready for the rainy season ahead.

If you have silicone rubber wipers, no.

Honda wiper blades are shit, no doubt about that. I successfully claimed warranty on the first set of blades but subsequent sets i wasn't so lucky.

bosch aerotwin, usually sell for $30ea, so its $60 for a pair, but super cheap had a runout on them a few months back for $3ea, and now supercheap carry their own brand trindon or someshit, very similar to the bosch, they are charging about $25 or something.
alternatively, get the ones by x3e as they r very similar as well
i run those blades on every car i have owned for the past few years, its makes driving in the rain enjoyable

Repco sell their own version of the Bosch Aerotwin wipers and they are on sale at the moment. Buy one get one free so $30 for both! I just bought a set and the quality is pretty good and way better than the similar Trico ones at Supercheap. It's called Repco 'Hydroblade'.

For the 03-05 euros, make sure you buy the 400mm (16") and 660mm (26") ones.

brand is 'aunger' single Edge multi fit / 710mm (28”) it is made of natural rubber and coated in graphite

i think the part no. is part number OEXSE2802

I can't remember if you have 03-05 or 06+
Basically looking for rubber inserts for my 06, will these fit?

over 4 years of owning my euro, i've yet to find any aftermarket wiper refills to fit the damn euro.

everything is 610mm (24") in length...2 inches too short for the driver's side wiper blade. we need at least 650mm (26")

i found some 710mm (28") trico brand refills going for about $13-14 at supercheapauto...which is great since we can cut it down to size. BUT, the bottom part of the refill is 7.5mm wide (stock euro is 6mm).

does anyone know if these 7.5mm wide ones would fit? i'm leaning towards 'no', but i'm not gonna waste money just to try it.

i still find it odd that these wiper manufacturers haven't made 26" wiper refills! esp. considering how many new cars now have a long ass wiper arm.

anyway, i just cleaned my windscreen....then applied auto glym glass polish....then some rainx. i tried doing a 'dry' wipe with the wipers and it seemed to move across the windscreen very smoothly with no shudder (these are with my old wiper rubbers too).

just need a rainy day to really test it.

can anyone tell me how long rainx lasts after you apply it? and how much do u apply to the windscreen?

I can tell you now RainX should last about 2 weeks if not more... depends on how much you wipe and ect... generally when i get a bug on the windscreen i go crazy and wipe like half my water bottle. so i apply it everytime i wash the car. :D

I spent the whole day looking for my CL9 "06 rubber blades and was unsuccessful. I went to autobarn, supercheap auto, autoxcel and repco. I ended up going to Warwick Farm Honda parts and found them there. Here are the prices. drivers side $15.94 and passenger side $14.25 = $33.20 I was willing to pay this price because i had stripped the original ones. =( Hopefully this will go the distance.

Nah, it's just superbranded rubber. Overpriced OEM stuff. Those with an 03-05 are in luck because they can use the PIAA silicone wiper inserts which last a looong time and also leave a waterbeading film on the glass so you don't need RainX. For those with the 06 onwards, it is a bit more difficult.

I just picked up a set of 3M branded wipers while I was on a trip to Taiwan. Looks like the original 03-05 wipers (includes the metal bits up to the hook).

just go outside and mesure, if your drivers side is 7-7.5mm wide and less than 710mm long and your passenger side is 6-6.5mm wide and like then 610mm long they will work.

NOTE: these will only work for wipers with a refill system, wipers with an 'Aerotwin' or 'Flexblade' system will not suit.

Your other option is to buy a set of wiper arms so you will only need the 6mm refills from then on.

Just want to add. I've put on my Bosch Aero Twin blades on, and they work great. Only thing is they seem to be a bit taller than OEM. What this means is while with the OEM blades, they stay low and aren't visible above the bonnet line, the Bosch ones are. Not so good for aerodynamics then.
