I got a civic VTI D16, i heard that the throttle body from the B16 can fit. Has anyone heard of this and also would the larger throat be worth it anyway? and also if this is do-able is it a straight swap or is there some modding needed?

straight swap. Yes its worth it, if the b16a throttle body is cheap.

Just becareful when removing the t/b. Just apply some grease on the old gasket b4 reinstalling. Best would to get a new gasket.

Ive been looking at the throttle bodies and there seems to be one big difference between the two seems to be there is one extra sensor on the top of the D16 TB. it looks like an o2 sensor everything else seems exactly the same tho. So what to do with that sensor? is it possible to move it somewhere else?

Yea straight swap but what i seem to found out is b careful of different series they go like OBDC1, OBDC2 etc aparantly. Do a goodle search for b16 throttle body, what i found looks exactly like we got. But yea the earlier series only have like one sensor where ours have 2 sensors one on the top and one on the side.

The sensor you speak of on the top of the TB is the MAP sensor. The one on the side is the TPS and that big thing on the bottom is the FITV. Certain OBD's have the MAP on the TB or on the firewall with an vaccum line running to it. All sensors will have a TPS and certain TB's have FITV's.

That caps it perfectly v.helpful thx.
Map (Manifold absolute pressure) sensor give info to the ECU about airflow
TPS (Throttle position sensor) gives info to the ECU about the TB position
FITV (Fast idle thermo valve) helps to stabalise idle
On the D series at least the one i got (D16Y1) has MAP in top TPS on side as most TB's and no FITV. OBD1 doesnt have map sensor on the TB and doesnt have FITV.

so will a B16A 1st Gen intake manifold & throttle body fit straight into my D16Y1 engine? 1st Gen is OBD1 or OBD2?

The D16Y1 is OBD2
Gen 1 is OBD1
OBD2 from a B16A below - looks like the one on the D16Y1

OBD1 below from B16A
