Hey guys

There are some rims I have found for my DC5r (5x114.3 PCD, 17x7.5 ET+43mm)... but the centre bore is 72mm.

Just wondering if anyone knows that the centre bore is for the DC5r.

Thanks guys.

The bit of the hub that protrudes is 64.1mm in diameter according to ClubRSX. Hub centric rings, if that is the reason you are asking, are not always necessary though.

64.1mm ok.

So you wouldn't necessarily need to have hub rings if the rim centre bore was larger then the hub centre bore?

Well I would say that hub rings are definitely a good idea, however I have seen aftermarket wheels with no hub centric rings used on street and track by friends with no ill effects. I would just take care when tightening wheel nuts to do them in a couple of stages eg. do them all hand tight then tighten with a socket, then torque them once the car is on the ground.

ok cool, thank you heaps for your help.

I'll have to take the rims to a tyre shop to swap the tyres from my current rims to the new ones, so i'll get there advice also.

It depends how much clearance there is

Sometime, if it is excessive..at speeds of 100 kph and over you can get vibrations, through the steering wheel, like a bad wheel balance.

Whats happening is that the wheels studs are taking all the load and they tend to flex a bit, this flex transmits thru the car as the wheel isnt mounted up on anything solid, beleive mei i didnt beleive it at first...

I had the problem last year on my VR4..was an absolute bitch, i had it balanced 3 times before i made rings to fit neat and it stopped it.

It only really becomes a serious issue if the wheels are quite big/heavy.

The worst case i have ever heard, and only once have i heard this..big heavy wheels were fitted to a starlet with a bout 5mm clearance a side, the studs flexed, a couple broke and the wheel cam loose, as i said, not that likely, but it damaged a fair bit of sh*t when it happened.

+1
This man knows about hub rings :)

def. get them, a $20-40 investment that is a no brainer when talking about safety/comfort.
just make sure to remove them if you put your stockies back on.

Also, if you can, try and get them so they fit neatest on the inside of the mags...

I say this because if you ever get a flat (touchwood) and your stuck on the side of the road, the last thing you need is a ring stuck on the hub, that you cant pry off...it wont allow for the space saver/stock rim to fit on..potentially a pain in the arse!

When i made mine, i made them light transition fit into the rim...best way.

P.s what rims are you looking at getting?

I picked these up for $1200. I would have loved to get some 2 or 3 piece BBS rims (Such as BBS LM's)... but these came up for an awesome price.

Once I have them on I'll put some pics up.

Those enkies are awesome... and for 9kg for 18x8.5 thats hella light.

Yeah car is silver. I'll leave the the alloy color for a bit and see how i feel about it... but if i am going to change color it'll be a dark color... so black or gun metal gray.
