Hi Guys,

Just bought a EG civic (GLi) for a daily and was wondering how often are your service intervals and what do you do?

only reason i ask is because i have a 180sx and i change oil and filters, etc every 5000kms, but this seems abit too much for a EG civic?

any thoughts would be great

For my DC2R I:

* Change oil and filter every 3000-5000km's or 3 months with out fail
* Change gearbox oil every 10,000km's or 2 track days with out fail.
* brake fluid every 10,000km's or 2 track days with out fail.
* Clutch fluid every 20,000km's
* Plugs and stuff as they come.
* Clean Mugen air filter every 5000km's.

air filter
fuel filter
trans fluid
tappet adjustment
every 40k

brake fluid every 60k or 3yrs

as for other fluids i would just check and top up as required

The Civic manual will tell you all that and more otherwise please follow this link for very good info https://techinfo.honda.com/rjanisis/logon.asp Once it loads click Owner's Manual's on the Free Resources toolbar on the left hand side, choose your vehicles year and away you go

yeh man it's only a gli, i'm guessing it's your daily and the 180 is for weekend fun?

oh and seeing as you have just bought it check on the last cambelt replacement. they're due for replacement every 5 years or 100,000 (whatever occurs first)

thanks panda, the timing/cam belt was changed 30,000kms ago so its nice and fresh, as was the water pump and engine seals so it should be good to kick around for a while

yeah the 180 is now the weekend car, but im going to sell it to build a weekend/track spec EG, what can i say these hondas really have grown on me :P

just did the first service on the civic today...changed the oil plus filter and spark plugs today. Funny positon having the oil filter on the firewall side of the engine, but atleast there is room to get your hand in, anyone tried changing an oil filter on a 180sx? impossible!

yeah i dread service time with my 180, it would be exactly like an S15, unless you have hands like a japanese school girl then you got no chance

the rest i top up due to lazyness
