I just noticed on the way home from the city my tacho wasn't working properly. It idles fine but will only move to about 1500-2000 rpm when i know the engine is running a lot higher than that. When it hits vtec though the tacho jumps straight up to about 7000rpm. Anyone able to help?
Oh the dizzy was replaced a few months ago and the ECU didn't throw any codes either.

check the wiring plugs on the dizzy are coupled together properly, sounds like a loose connection somewhere.

could also be the connection of the wire onto the ICM inside the dizzy, pop the cap off the dizzy, unscrew the rotor button & then take off the plastic cover & u will see the thing with 4 wires connected to it.make sure the blue wire(could be faded to a green colour by now) on the side of the ICM is conncted well.

Took the car down to ivan and he said since the car is running fine it may be the tacho itself. Has anyone around bris got an EG cluster with a tacho sitting around that i could borrow for a few hours over the weekend to see if it is the problem?
