hey guys i just have a noob qestion basicaly with my car the rev gauge seems to always be like 200rpm higher then on my vafc. and when i rev it high like around redline basicaly the rev gauge on the cluster goes all the way up to 8,400 rpm and cuts out and when i look on the vafc its only reading about 7,900 rpm.
could this mean that the dash cluster is off and reading the rpm too high and causing the rev limiter to cut in too early?

No,the tacho only reads off the ignition control module,it does not control the ECU.
I thought the B16A2 was limited to about 8100 -8200rpm in any case.
Its not uncommon for the tacho to read slightly out anyway & its quite possible to see 8400rpm when bouncing the limiter.
Sounds like u have a slight voltage offset on the VAFC,where did u connect the ground wire too from the VAFC?

take it back to them & ask them if they connected the ground to the main ECU ground & not one of the signal grounds or some other grounding point on the vehicle chassis.
And just get them to test your VAFC & setup the RPM properly.

It could also just be a possibility of u just not reading it right or the VAFC not being able to update quick enough,im not sure about the accuracy of the VAFC,never studied it.
