Hi, looked under the bonnet at what I believe is the A/C unit (located closest to the windscreen on both the driver and passenger side). I noticed a bolt on either side protruding upwards and they were covered by rust!! Every other nut and bolt I could see were silver and shiny. Is there meant to be rust here?

errrhh the pic is of the strut tower (top of your suspension).
left and right strut tower nut, don't worry about if its rusted.

prob should oil it anyways to keep it nice and well though.

Oh. Shows how much I know about cars. There was a label showing the gas used in the A/C unit so I thought it was that.
Thanks for the reply though. Do you know what the little hole is there for?

when replacing springs or shocks
if u dont have a rattle gun to take that nut off then u can stick an allen key in there and use a spanner to take the nut off...
u hold the allen key to stop the whole shock turning when undoing the nut

does that make sense? lol

Thanks for the reply ricer. It does make sense but it's out of my league. If I was to dismantle it there's every chance I wont get the bits to fit back together again. Thats why I pay good money for Honda to look after my car

They are a pain in the ass to change... I had to change shocks in my old N13 pulsar that I had. Try 10 years worth of rust and crap!!! They didn't have that hole in the top either. Fun....

If it worries you just spray a bit of WD40 on it, leave it on for a few mins. then wipe of the rust and residue.

Just to give you a visual, it is the very top part of the suspension (top left hand side of the pic - the nut/screw in the middle of the three bolts):

Zdster, thans for the picture. Certainly puts it in perspective.
Tron07, doesn't the warranty only cover the paint work?

No problems. I think Tron was just joking. Dont worry about it being rusty (its not a big deal). If it really worries you try cleaning it up a little :).

Fun....My first car was an N12. I swapped 4 pairs of used struts trying to weed out a problem, and in the end bought new ones anyway!

Don't worry about the rust. I wouldn't even bother with WD40. If you mis-spray WD40 and get it on the plastic and rubber parts, they will crack a few years down the road. I'd rather use something like Inox. But leave it to rust, doesn't matter anyway.

As many had mention, dont worry about the rust there, and when you send the car to service, it wouldnt harm to complain either.... :D
